Updated April 2026 — Everything you need to know about Disneyland’s Magic Key annual pass program, including current prices, all four tiers, blockout dates, benefits, and how to figure out which pass — if any — is right for you.

The Magic Key is Disneyland’s annual pass program. Instead of buying tickets for individual visits, you pay a yearly fee for unlimited admission across a defined number of days. If you visit Disneyland frequently enough, a Magic Key can save you a significant amount of money compared to buying single-day or multi-day tickets every time.

The program has four tiers at different price points, each with different levels of access, blockout dates, and perks. Choosing the right one — or deciding whether to buy one at all — requires understanding how each tier actually works.

2026 Magic Key Prices — Quick Reference

Pass Price Monthly Payment (CA Residents) Availability
Inspire Key $1,899 $150/month after $99 down All guests
Believe Key $1,474 $114.59/month after $99 down All guests
Explore Key $999 Available for CA Residents All guests — new January 13, 2026
Imagine Key $599 $41.67/month after $99 down Southern California residents only (ZIP codes 90000-93599)

Prices as of October 2025 price increase. Disney typically raises Magic Key prices annually in October. Monthly payment plans available exclusively for California residents.

Important — Magic Key Availability Is Limited

Magic Keys are not always on sale. Disney limits the number of passes it sells and periodically pulls them off sale when thresholds are reached. This means you cannot always buy a Magic Key whenever you want to — sometimes passes are sold out for new purchases, though renewals for existing holders typically remain available.

In 2025, all passes went on sale in January and sold out by early April. The Inspire and Believe Keys returned to sale in November 2025. The new Explore Key went on sale January 13, 2026.

If a pass you want is currently unavailable, check Disneyland.com regularly and follow Disney’s social media for announcements. The next round of Magic Key sales is expected in November 2026 based on recent patterns.

The Four Magic Key Tiers — What Each One Includes

Inspire Key — $1,899

Best for: Local or frequent visitors who want maximum flexibility and don’t want to worry about blockout dates.

The top-tier Magic Key with the fewest restrictions. The Inspire Key is blocked out only during the peak Christmas/New Year’s period in late December — essentially two weeks per year. Every other day of the year is available for park admission, subject to reservation availability.

Blockout dates 2026: Late December through early January only. All other dates including spring break, summer, and major holidays are available.

Benefits included:

  • Unlimited admission on available dates
  • Complimentary standard theme park parking (excluding blockout dates) — the only tier with free parking
  • Unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital downloads
  • Up to 20% discount on select merchandise
  • Up to 15% discount on select dining
  • 25% off Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days you use your pass for admission
  • Holds up to 6 park reservations at a time

Break-even point: Based on the lowest-priced single-day ticket ($174 for a tier 0 day), the Inspire Key pays for itself after approximately 11 visits. If you visit on weekends or peak days where tickets cost more, it breaks even faster.

Who should buy it: Locals who visit monthly or more, Annual Passholders who want to visit during summer or spring break without worrying about blockouts, and families where the free parking saves $40+ per visit.

Believe Key — $1,474

Best for: Regular visitors who want good access with more savings on the pass price, can work around some blockout dates.

The second-highest tier. More blockout dates than the Inspire Key but still significantly more flexible than the lower tiers. Blocked out on most peak-demand dates but available on most regular weekdays and many weekends throughout the year.

Benefits included:

  • Reservation-based admission most days of the year
  • 50% off standard theme park parking (not free like Inspire Key)
  • Unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital downloads
  • Up to 10% discount on select merchandise
  • Up to 10% discount on select dining
  • 25% off Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days you use your pass
  • Holds up to 6 park reservations at a time

Break-even point: Approximately 9 visits based on tier 0 pricing.

Who should buy it: Regular visitors who can plan around blockout dates, people who want PhotoPass included but can tolerate 50% off rather than free parking, and anyone who finds the Inspire Key too expensive but wants more flexibility than the Explore Key.

Explore Key — $999 (New for 2026)

Best for: Visitors who can plan mid-week visits and want the most affordable pass with some summer access.

The Explore Key is new as of January 13, 2026, replacing the Enchant Key which has been retired. The key improvement over the Enchant Key it replaces is expanded summer availability — specifically, select summer weekdays are now available where they previously weren’t. This makes the Explore Key meaningfully more useful for families who want a summer visit without upgrading to the significantly more expensive Believe or Inspire Key.

Blockout dates 2026: Most weekends year-round, spring break, most of summer (though some weekdays are now accessible unlike the old Enchant Key), late December, and other peak holidays. Across June and July, the Explore Key offers approximately 43 available days — more than the retired Enchant Key but still requiring careful planning for summer visits.

Benefits included:

  • Reservation-based admission on select dates
  • 50% off standard theme park parking
  • Holds up to 4 park reservations at a time
  • Dining and merchandise discounts at lower levels than upper tiers
  • 25% off Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days you use your pass

Break-even point: Approximately 6 visits based on tier 0 pricing. Because of the price point, this pass can pay for itself relatively quickly for visitors who time their trips to available dates.

Who should buy it: Mid-frequency visitors who can plan around blockout dates, families who want occasional summer visits on select weekdays, and anyone who visits roughly 6-10 times per year on flexible dates.

Imagine Key — $599

Best for: Southern California residents who visit occasionally on low-crowd weekdays.

The most affordable Magic Key and the most restricted. Available only to Southern California residents with ZIP codes 90000-93599. Has the highest number of blockout dates of any tier — blocked on most weekends year-round, all of spring break, most of summer (late May through mid-August), stretches of October, Thanksgiving week, and most of December through early January.

What’s left are primarily weekdays outside of peak seasons — January through mid-March weekdays, late April through mid-May weekdays, and mid-August through early October weekdays. For the right person — a local who visits frequently on low-crowd Tuesday mornings — this pass offers exceptional value. For anyone hoping to visit on weekends or during school breaks, the blockout calendar is prohibitive.

Benefits included:

  • Reservation-based admission on select weekday dates
  • 50% off standard parking at select lots
  • Holds up to 2 park reservations at a time
  • Basic dining and merchandise discounts
  • 25% off Lightning Lane Multi Pass on days you use your pass

Break-even point: Approximately 4 visits based on tier 0 pricing — the fastest break-even of any tier.

Who should buy it: SoCal residents only. Best for people who visit on weekdays during non-peak seasons — locals who can pop in on a random Tuesday afternoon rather than planning big weekend trips.

How Magic Keys Actually Work — The Key Details

Park reservations are required. Having a Magic Key does not guarantee park entry on any given day. You must also have a park reservation for the same date and park. Reservation availability for Magic Key holders is allocated separately from regular ticket holders — on high-demand days, the Magic Key reservation pool can fill up even when regular tickets still have availability. Check the Magic Key Access Calendar on Disneyland.com before committing to a visit.

Blockout dates are hard stops. On a blockout date for your pass tier, you simply cannot make a reservation or enter the park with that pass. There are no exceptions and no way to pay to override a blockout date with your existing pass — you would need to buy a separate regular ticket for that day.

Reservation limits matter. Each tier has a maximum number of reservations you can hold at one time. Inspire and Believe allow 6 reservations, Explore allows 4, Imagine allows 2. You can make a reservation, use it, and book another. For frequent visitors this is manageable. For anyone trying to plan a complex multi-day trip weeks in advance, the limit can be a constraint.

PhotoPass is only on the top two tiers. Unlimited digital PhotoPass downloads — a significant value for families who use the in-park photographers — is included with the Inspire Key and Believe Key only. The Explore and Imagine Keys do not include PhotoPass.

Free parking is only on the Inspire Key. The top tier is the only Magic Key that includes complimentary parking. All others offer 50% off at select lots. At $40 per day for standard parking, free parking on the Inspire Key saves significant money for frequent local visitors who drive to the park.

Monthly payments are for California residents only. The installment plan — $99 down with monthly payments — is available exclusively to California residents with a California ZIP code on their Disney account and payment method. Out-of-state guests must pay the full price upfront.

Is a Magic Key Worth It? — The Math

The honest answer is: it depends entirely on how often you visit and whether the blockout dates work for your schedule.

Here’s the break-even calculation using the lowest standard Park Hopper ticket price ($174 per adult per day):

Pass Price Breaks Even After
Imagine Key $599 ~4 visits
Explore Key $999 ~6 visits
Believe Key $1,474 ~9 visits
Inspire Key $1,899 ~11 visits

If you visit on peak days — weekends, holidays, or summer — where tickets cost $194 or more per adult, the break-even point is lower. A family paying weekend prices could find the Inspire Key breaking even in 8-9 visits rather than 11.

A Magic Key probably makes sense if:

  • You live within driving distance of Disneyland and visit at least 6 times per year
  • Your visit schedule aligns with the blockout calendar for your chosen tier
  • You drive to the park and want to reduce parking costs
  • You spend money on dining and merchandise and want the discount benefits

A Magic Key probably doesn’t make sense if:

  • You visit once or twice a year — multi-day tickets will be cheaper
  • Your visits are mostly on weekends or during school breaks — lower tiers will be blocked out
  • You visit from out of state — the monthly payment plan isn’t available and you likely don’t visit frequently enough to justify the price
  • Magic Keys are currently sold out for new purchases — you can’t buy one that isn’t available

How to Buy a Magic Key

Magic Keys are purchased exclusively through Disneyland directly — they cannot be bought through third-party resellers. When passes are available for sale:

  • Purchase at Disneyland.com/magic-key
  • Purchase through the Disneyland app
  • Purchase at the park’s ticket booths if available (less reliable than online)

California residents who want the monthly payment plan must ensure their Disney account and payment method are linked to a California ZIP code before purchasing.

After purchasing, link your Magic Key to your Disney account in the Disneyland app to make park reservations and access all pass benefits.

Magic Key vs Buying Regular Tickets — Which Is Better?

For out-of-state visitors planning a single Disneyland trip of 2-4 days, regular multi-day tickets will almost certainly be cheaper and more flexible than a Magic Key. See our complete guide to cheap Disneyland tickets for the best ways to save on standard ticket purchases.

For Southern California locals who visit frequently, especially on weekdays during non-peak seasons, the Imagine Key at $599 can pay for itself in as few as four visits and represents some of the best value in the entire Disneyland ticketing system.

The sweet spot is the Explore Key at $999 for visitors who want occasional summer access on select weekdays without paying the premium of the Believe or Inspire Key.
