Updated April 2026 — Every transportation option from John Wayne Airport (SNA), Long Beach Airport (LGB), and LAX to Disneyland Resort, including costs, travel times, and which option is best for your group.
Three airports serve the Disneyland Resort area and each one has different transportation options, distances, and costs. John Wayne Airport is the closest at about 15 miles. Long Beach Airport is a hidden gem at about 13 miles away and one of the easiest airports to navigate in Southern California. LAX is the biggest and most connected but the furthest at about 40 miles.
This guide covers every option from each airport so you can choose what works best for your family and budget.
Which Airport Should You Fly Into for Disneyland?
| Airport | Distance | Drive Time | Uber/Lyft Cost | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| John Wayne / SNA | ~15 miles | 20-25 min | $25-55 | Closest airport, most Disney families fly here |
| Long Beach / LGB | ~13 miles | 25-35 min | $30-54 | Easiest to navigate, great for families with kids |
| LAX | ~40 miles | 45-90 min | $60-120+ | Most flights, but furthest from the parks |
If you have a choice, SNA and LGB are both excellent and produce similar door-to-door travel times to Disneyland. LGB is often overlooked but is genuinely one of the easiest airports in Southern California — you can be in an Uber within 10 minutes of landing. LAX is only worth the extra distance if you’re getting a significantly cheaper flight.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) to Disneyland
John Wayne Airport — officially Orange County Airport — is in Santa Ana, about 15 miles from Disneyland. It’s the most popular arrival airport for Disneyland visitors.
Uber or Lyft — Best for Most Families
Cost: $25-55 standard (up to 4) | $38-65 XL (up to 6)
Time: 20-28 minutes average
Pickup: Departure level directly out of the main doors, or top level of parking structures A2 and B2
For most families, rideshare from SNA is the fastest and most convenient option. On-demand, no booking required, and direct to your hotel. Check both Uber and Lyft — prices vary and taking the cheaper one saves real money. Average Uber cost to Disneyland Hotel is around $41. You can reserve up to 90 days in advance for predictable pricing.
EVE Shuttle — New Budget Option from SNA
Cost: $15 per adult, $7.50 per child (ages 3-9) each way
Time: 20-30 minutes
Hours: 5:30am-10:30pm daily
Book via: A-Way We Go app — reservations required, up to 3 months in advance
ART (Anaheim Resort Transportation) launched the EVE shuttle as an on-demand service from John Wayne Airport. It uses 9-passenger electric vehicles — you tell the app where to pick you up and drop you off, with one end at SNA and the other in the ART service area covering all Disneyland Resort hotels.
At $15 per adult this is significantly cheaper than Uber for families of four or more. The trade-off is you may share the van with other parties and must book in advance. Your EVE ticket also works for all ART bus services until 3am the following day — useful if your hotel isn’t walking distance from the parks. Best budget option from SNA for families who plan ahead.
Shared Shuttle Services
Cost: $15-30 per person
Time: 30-60 minutes with multiple hotel stops
Pickup: Ground Transportation Center (GTC) on the Arrival Level in the East Parking Structure
Services like Prime Time Shuttle are available at the GTC without advance booking. Affordable per person but make several hotel stops, adding time. Better for solo travelers or couples than for families — for groups the EVE shuttle or Uber usually make more sense.
Taxi
Cost: $45-65
Time: 15-20 minutes
Pickup: Ground Transportation Center, no booking needed
More expensive than Uber for the same route but immediate and reliable. Good if you’re not comfortable with rideshare apps.
OCTA Public Bus
Cost: $2-5
Time: 60-90 minutes with connections
Budget option for solo travelers with minimal luggage. Not practical for families — the connections and travel time make it impractical for most Disneyland visitors.
Long Beach Airport (LGB) to Disneyland
Long Beach Airport is Disneyland’s best-kept secret for arriving families. The entire airport is comparable to a single terminal at a major hub — you deplane on the tarmac, walk directly to baggage claim, and Uber pickup is right outside the terminal. For families with young children and lots of gear, LGB is often the most stress-free arrival experience in Southern California.
Uber or Lyft — Recommended
Cost: $30-54 standard | $42-60 XL
Time: 25-40 minutes (plan 40 minutes with traffic)
Pickup: Outer curb directly in front of the terminal — no shuttles or extra walking needed
LGB’s tiny footprint makes rideshare especially seamless. Walk out of baggage claim, open the app, and your driver is right there. Average Uber to Disneyland Hotel is around $54. You can be in an Uber within 10 minutes of landing, which beats SNA for ease even though it’s technically slightly further.
Karmel Shuttle — Advance Booking
Cost: Varies by group size — reservation required
Hours: 6am-7pm (private van available outside these hours)
Time: 25-35 minutes direct
Karmel tracks your flight and texts pickup instructions when you land. Up to 5 people. Good option for travelers who prefer scheduled service to on-demand rideshare.
Rental Car
Rental companies are in a small bungalow right outside the terminal — the easiest rental car pickup of any Southern California airport. Directions to Disneyland: exit the airport, turn left on Lakewood Blvd to the 91 East ramp. Simple, no freeway maze. Parking at Anaheim hotels runs $25-40 per night. Best for families exploring beyond Disneyland.
LAX to Disneyland
LAX has the most flight options but at 40 miles it takes significantly longer and costs more. Budget extra time for LAX’s congested pickup areas.
Uber or Lyft
Cost: $60-120+ depending on traffic
Time: 45-90 minutes
Pickup: The LAX-it lot — take the free shuttle from your terminal, adds 15-20 minutes
Convenient but expensive with unpredictable surge pricing. For a family of four this can run $80-100+. If your flight arrives during rush hour (4-7pm) budget for serious traffic on the 405.
Shared Shuttle Services
Cost: $20-35 per person shared | $100-150 flat rate private
Time: 60-90 minutes shared | 45-60 minutes private
Shared shuttles are cheaper per person than Uber from LAX for solo travelers or couples. For families, a private shuttle flat rate often makes more sense. Book in advance — availability is better with a reservation.
Metro Rail and Bus
Cost: $3-5
Time: 90-120 minutes
Take the “G” shuttle from your terminal to Aviation Station, the Green Line east to Norwalk, then Metro Express 460 toward Disneyland. Not practical with luggage and children but the cheapest option for solo budget travelers.
Rental Car from LAX
Rental cars at LAX require a shuttle to the rental facility — add 20-30 minutes. The 40-mile drive takes 45-90 minutes depending on traffic. Good for families spending time throughout Southern California.
How Far Is Disneyland from Los Angeles and San Diego?
From Los Angeles downtown: About 30 miles, 45-60 minutes by car. If you’re staying in LA and day-tripping to Disneyland, budget significant time for the 5 Freeway especially on weekends.
From San Diego: About 90 miles, 90 minutes to 2 hours by car. Many families combine San Diego and Disneyland — book a Anaheim hotel the night before your park day to avoid the morning drive.
