These are attractions that have permanently ended or are undergoing significant transformations.
Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! permanently ended in 2024. A new Bluey show is coming to the space at Disney California Adventure.
Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is confirmed to permanently close in 2027. It is still operating as of May 2026. Ride it while you can.
Steakhouse 55 has permanently closed. The lobby bar has reopened as the Broken Spell Lounge.
Seasonal Overlay Closures — Full Year 2026
Disneyland’s holiday overlays require brief closures to install and remove seasonal theming. These are predictable and happen on roughly the same schedule every year.
Haunted Mansion Holiday (Nightmare Before Christmas overlay)

Grizzly River Run (Seasonal)
Typically closes for seasonal refurbishment in early January and reopens in February or March. The 2026 seasonal closure ran from January 5 through March 27.
Limited-Time Overlays and Events — 2026
Hyperspace Mountain is running as a limited-time Star Wars overlay on Space Mountain from April 28 through June 1, 2026.
Soarin’ Over California returned for a limited run from February 6 through July 1, 2026, replacing the standard Soarin’ Around the World film.
What’s Coming to Disneyland in 2026
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Timeline Expansion — Now Open
Galaxy’s Edge expanded its storyline to include the era of the Galactic Civil War on April 29, 2026. New permanent character meet and greets include Darth Vader, Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Luke Skywalker. Music from the original trilogy including the iconic Main Title theme, the Force Theme, and the Cantina Band now play throughout the land. These changes are currently exclusive to Disneyland.
Mandalorian and Grogu Mission on Smugglers Run — May 22, 2026
A completely new mission on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu debuts May 22. New storyline, choose-your-own-destination gameplay, upgraded engineer role with Grogu interactions, and Unreal Engine 5 visuals. Launches the same day as the Mandalorian and Grogu film.
Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration — Through August 9, 2026
Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration began May 16, 2025 and continues through August 9, 2026. Special entertainment, merchandise, and limited-time experiences are running throughout the summer. Disneyland turns 70 on July 17, 2026.
Walt Disney — A Magical Life (Now Open)
A new attraction celebrating Walt Disney opened in 2025, featuring the first-ever audio-animatronic of Walt Disney. Located on Main Street, this is a must-see for Disney history fans and rarely has a significant wait.
Grand Californian Hotel Club-Level Lounge
A new 2-story Club-Level Concierge lounge is under construction at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, expected to open in 2026. The lounge celebrates classic California Craftsman design inspired by giant sequoias.
How to Check Current Disneyland Refurbishments Before Your Visit
Refurbishment dates change constantly. Disney announces new closures on short notice and reopening dates often shift. Here is the best way to stay current.
The official Disneyland closures page is updated when Disney makes official announcements. The Disneyland app is the most real-time source. Any attraction scheduled to be closed during your visit will show as unavailable when you search for it. Check within 2 weeks of your visit for the most accurate picture, and check again 48 hours before your trip. Last-minute closures happen, and a quick app check the day before or morning of your visit confirms what is actually operating.
Tips for Visiting During Refurbishments
January through March is peak refurbishment season. Disney takes advantage of the slower post-holiday period to perform the most maintenance. If a must-do ride is on your list and your dates are flexible, avoid January through March or verify status early.
Refurbishments often mean shorter waits on everything else. When a major ride like Pirates of the Caribbean is closed, some of the crowds that would have gone there redistribute to other attractions. But the overall park is often less crowded during refurbishment periods, meaning shorter waits across the board.
Build a backup plan for each must-do. If Pirates of the Caribbean is on your list and it is closed, have an alternative in the same land ready. Indiana Jones Adventure in nearby Adventureland is a strong backup. A Plan B for every major ride prevents a closed attraction from derailing your day.
Use the Disneyland app to reroute in real time. If you arrive and find an attraction closed that was not on the refurbishment calendar, the app shows current wait times across the park so you can quickly pivot to the next best thing.
