Oogie Boogie Bash is the single most in-demand ticketed event at the Disneyland Resort, and tickets for 2026 go on sale in mid-June. If you want to attend, you need a plan before the sale opens, because the best dates sell out within hours and every date eventually sells out completely.
This guide covers all 33 event dates, the confirmed ticket sale timeline, expected pricing, what actually happens at the party, the big entertainment question mark hanging over this year’s event, the strategy for getting tickets on sale day, and the practical tips that will help you get the most out of your night. This article will be updated as Disney releases additional details in the coming weeks.
Ticket Sale Dates: Mark Your Calendar
Disney confirmed the ticket sale timeline in an email to Magic Key holders. Here are the dates.
June 16, 2026 (9:00 AM PT): Inspire Magic Key holders presale. Limited quantity of tickets available.
June 17, 2026 (9:00 AM PT): All Magic Key holders presale. Limited quantity of tickets available.
June 18, 2026 (estimated, 9:00 AM PT): General public ticket sale. Disney has not officially confirmed this date, but every previous year the general public sale has followed one day after the all-Magic-Key presale. We are treating June 18 as a near-certainty and will update this article if Disney confirms a different date.
On the day of the sale, you will be placed into a virtual waiting room on Disneyland.com. When the sale opens, everyone in the waiting room is assigned a randomized spot in the queue. Being online early does not guarantee a better position, but not being online at all guarantees you miss the initial window. Log in at least 15 minutes before 9:00 AM PT, have your Disneyland account ready, and know exactly which date you want before the queue opens.
All 33 Event Dates
Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 runs on a record 33 nights, up from 31 in 2025 and 27 in 2024. The event takes place on select Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from August through October at Disney California Adventure.
August 2026: 18, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28, 31
September 2026: 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30
October 2026: 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21, 23, 26, 28, 31
That is 7 nights in August, 13 nights in September, and 13 nights in October including Halloween night itself on October 31.
Which Dates Sell Out First
Based on every previous year’s sale pattern, the dates that sell out fastest are October dates closest to Halloween (October 26, 28, and 31 will go first), all Sunday dates (the only weekend night, since the event also runs Tuesdays and Thursdays), and the first night of the event (August 18). If you want any of those dates, you must buy during the first day of whatever sale window is available to you. Waiting even 24 hours risks losing them.
Tuesday and Thursday dates in August and early September are historically the slowest to sell out and are the best bet for guests who miss the initial rush. In 2025, some of the less popular dates remained available for several days after the general public sale opened. With 33 total nights in 2026 (two more than last year), demand may be slightly more spread out, but every date will eventually sell out.
Expected Pricing
Disney has not yet released 2026 ticket prices. Based on 2025 pricing and historical year-over-year increases, expect the following ranges.
In 2025, Oogie Boogie Bash tickets ranged from $129 to $189 per person depending on the date, with August dates at the low end and October weekend dates at the high end. Pricing in 2026 will likely increase modestly, potentially to the $139 to $199 range, though this is an estimate based on historical trends. Actual pricing will be confirmed when the sale opens.
Tickets are per person. There is no family or group discount. Children ages 3 and older require a ticket. Children 2 and under are free.
Separate DCA park admission is required for Oogie Boogie Bash. The event ticket includes park entry starting at 3:00 PM during mix-in hours and covers the full evening through the 11:00 PM party close. You will need a separate park ticket or park reservation for the event. However, if you want to be in DCA before 3:00 PM on your event day, you do need a separate day ticket and park reservation for that.
What Happens at Oogie Boogie Bash
The event runs from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, but ticket holders can enter Disney California Adventure starting at 3:00 PM for mix-in hours. Those three hours of mix-in time are part of the value. You get a full evening at DCA starting in the afternoon and continuing through the party’s exclusive entertainment, treat trails, and character appearances.
Treat Trails (Trick-or-Treating)
Treat trails are themed trick-or-treat paths set up throughout DCA where guests collect candy from Disney villains. Each trail is hosted by a specific villain, and the theming, lighting, and Cast Member interactions along the path are tailored to that character. You walk through, interact with the villain at the end, and collect candy in your trick-or-treat bag (provided free at the event).
In 2025, the treat trail villain lineup included Agatha Harkness from WandaVision in Avengers Campus, Dr. Doofenshmirtz from Phineas and Ferb in the Disney Junior building in Hollywood Land, Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas in the Animation Building in Hollywood Land, Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit near Soarin in Grizzly Peak, and Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco in Avengers Campus. Disney typically swaps two villains per year, so expect a similar lineup with a couple of new faces in 2026.
Character Meet-and-Greets
Oogie Boogie Bash features rare character appearances that are exclusive to the event and not available during regular park hours. These are often the biggest draw for repeat attendees. In 2025, the character meet-and-greet lineup included Daisy, Clarabelle, and Minnie Mouse dressed as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus (by far the longest wait every year), King Mickey, Goofy, and Donald Duck from Kingdom Hearts, Megara with Pain and Panic from Hercules, Bruno from Encanto, Lotso from Toy Story 3, and Hercules. Disney announces new and returning characters closer to the event each year.
The Frightfully Fun Parade (Status Uncertain for 2026)
The Frightfully Fun Parade has been the flagship entertainment at Oogie Boogie Bash since the event began. It features a nighttime parade with Disney villains, a headless horseman on horseback leading the procession, jack-o’-lanterns, dancing ghosts, and the Nightmare Before Christmas characters. It runs twice per night on event evenings.
Here is the important uncertainty for 2026: the backstage parade route at DCA is reportedly out of commission due to ongoing construction (likely related to the Coco attraction being built behind Pixar Pier). If the parade route cannot function, the Frightfully Fun Parade cannot be performed in its current form. Disney has removed all entertainment details from the official Oogie Boogie Bash page, which is unusual and suggests changes are coming. They have not added a “check back later” note. The entertainment section is simply gone.
The most likely scenario: Disney replaces or supplements the parade with alternative entertainment, potentially a new World of Color overlay and additional character appearances or stage shows. The event’s $130+ ticket price demands a headline entertainment offering, and cutting the parade entirely without a replacement would be a major departure from guest expectations. Disney knows this. Expect an entertainment announcement in the coming weeks, likely before tickets go on sale on June 16.
We will update this article as soon as Disney announces the 2026 entertainment lineup.
Ride Access
Most DCA attractions operate during Oogie Boogie Bash with reduced wait times compared to regular park hours. The limited party capacity means shorter standby lines across the board. Radiator Springs Racers, Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, Incredicoaster, and Toy Story Midway Mania all typically run during the event. This is one of the best times of the year to ride DCA attractions with minimal waits. Lightning Lane is not available during the party.
Costumes
Guests of all ages are allowed to wear costumes at Oogie Boogie Bash. This is one of the only times adults can dress up at Disneyland Resort. Costume rules apply: no masks that fully cover the face (except children under 14), no costume weapons or sharp objects, no trailing fabric, and costumes should not drag on the ground. Disney-bounding (wearing everyday clothes in the color palette and style of a Disney character without an actual costume) is always permitted. Check the Disneyland website before the event for the most current costume guidelines.
How to Get Tickets: The Strategy
Oogie Boogie Bash tickets sell out. Every date, every year. The question is not whether they will sell out but how fast. Here is how to maximize your chances.
Know your target date before the sale opens. Have a first choice and a backup. Do not start browsing dates once you get through the queue. By the time you decide, your preferred date may be gone.
Be in the virtual waiting room at least 15 minutes before 9:00 AM PT. The queue randomizes positions when the sale opens, so being there early does not guarantee a better spot. But not being there at all guarantees you are at the back.
Have your Disneyland account logged in and payment method saved. The checkout process needs to be fast. If you are fumbling with a credit card number while the queue moves, you lose time. Save your payment method the night before.
If you are a Magic Key holder, use your presale day. The June 16 (Inspire) and June 17 (all Magic Key) presale windows have limited ticket quantities, but the demand is lower than the general public sale. Your odds of getting your preferred date are meaningfully higher during the presale.
If you miss the general public sale on June 18, keep checking. Tickets occasionally reappear in the days and weeks after the initial sale as guests cancel or Disney releases small additional allotments. Check the Disneyland website daily during the week after the sale.
Do not buy from resellers at inflated prices. Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are non-transferable. They are linked to the purchaser’s Disneyland account. Buying from a reseller is a gamble that frequently results in denied entry at the gate and lost money. Only buy through Disneyland.com.
Tips for the Night of the Event
Arrive at 3:00 PM for the mix-in. The party does not officially start until 6:00 PM, but you can enter DCA starting at 3:00 PM. Use those three hours to ride the major attractions with shorter waits, eat dinner before the party crowd floods the restaurants, and get oriented before the evening programming begins. Arriving at 6:00 PM wastes three hours of included park time.
Hit the treat trails first. Lines for the treat trails build throughout the evening. Starting them at 6:00 PM when the exclusive event programming begins gives you the shortest waits. By 8:00 PM, the popular trails (particularly the Oogie Boogie trail in the Animation Building) have significant lines.
Do the Sanderson Sisters meet-and-greet early or skip it. Daisy, Clarabelle, and Minnie as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus consistently has the longest wait of any character appearance at the event, often exceeding 90 minutes. If this meet is a priority, get in line as early as possible. If 90 minutes in a character line does not sound like a good time, skip it and spend that time on treat trails, rides, and other characters with shorter waits.
Bring a bag for candy. Disney provides a free trick-or-treat bag, but it fills up fast if you hit all the trails. Bringing a larger reusable bag or backpack gives you room for the full haul without worrying about overflow.
Eat before 6:00 PM. Quick service restaurants get slammed once the party officially starts and the full event crowd arrives. Eating during the 3:00 to 5:30 PM mix-in window saves you 30 to 45 minutes of food line time during the party itself.
Charge your phone before the event. The Disneyland app is essential for checking event entertainment schedules, character appearance times, and wait times. A dead phone at 8:00 PM means missing the parade time, the character lineup, and any schedule changes Disney pushes during the evening. Bring a portable charger.
Is Oogie Boogie Bash Worth the Price?
At $130 to $190 per person, Oogie Boogie Bash is not cheap. For a family of four, you are looking at $520 to $760 before adding any food or merchandise. The honest answer on whether it is worth it depends on what you value.
If you care about rare character meet-and-greets, themed trick-or-treating, wearing a costume in the park, shorter ride waits, and the overall Halloween atmosphere, the event delivers something you cannot get on a regular park day. The exclusive characters, the villain treat trails, and the costumed energy of the crowd create a night that feels genuinely different from a standard DCA visit.
If you are primarily a ride person and do not care much about characters or trick-or-treating, the value is harder to justify. You are paying a premium for the atmosphere and exclusives, and the ride access alone does not justify the price when you could ride the same attractions on a regular ticket.
For families with kids in the 3 to 12 age range, Oogie Boogie Bash is almost universally worth it. The trick-or-treating, the costumes, the character appearances, and the energy of the night create memories that kids talk about for years. For adult-only groups, the value depends on how much the exclusive characters and Halloween atmosphere matter to you personally.
