October is the most popular month to visit Disneyland that most people do not expect to be crowded. Ask a casual visitor when they want to go for Halloween and they will say October. Ask a veteran and they will say September. That gap in expectations is the core thing to understand before planning any October trip to the resort.
- Best days to visit: October 1-2 (weekdays), October 5-8 (early weekdays), October 19-23 and 26-30
- Worst days to visit: October 9-18 (Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples Day weekend and surrounding fall break weeks)
- Price increase (done): Disneyland raised one-day prices on October 6, 2026. Tiers 1–4 went up $5; Tier 0 ($104), Tier 5 ($199) and Tier 6 ($224) held. Lightning Lane Multi Pass now starts at $35 in advance ($38+ day-of). Multi-day tickets, Magic Key and parking stayed flat. Full breakdown.
- Ticket pricing: One-day, one-park tickets now run $104 / $134 / $154 / $174 / $189 / $199 / $224 (Tiers 0–6). Most October dates sit in the middle-to-upper tiers; check Disney’s calendar for your exact day.
- Halloween Time: Full season through October 31. Haunted Mansion Holiday, Halloween Screams fireworks, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, all included with admission.
- Oogie Boogie Bash October dates: October 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, 31
- Oogie Boogie Bash: Sold out. Every remaining date showed sold out on Disney’s site at our last check; tickets were $169–$199 for October nights.
- October closures: Indiana Jones Adventure closed through October 22 (back October 23 on Disney’s schedule), Mad Tea Party back since October 16, Fantasmic! dark on select nights, and “it’s a small world” closes October 30. Details below.
- Weather: Highs 72-78°F, lows 55-60°F. October is one of the best weather months of the year.
- New in 2026: Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake replaces the Frightfully Fun Parade at Oogie Boogie Bash. Haunted Mansion Holiday features an all-new gingerbread house in the ballroom.
Updated October 15, 2026. The ticket price increase has already happened, so this guide now uses the new prices. We also added the ride closures and dark nights that affect the rest of the month.
October 2026 Closures and Dark Nights to Plan Around
- Indiana Jones Adventure: closed for refurbishment since September 8. Disney’s attraction schedule (checked October 19) shows it closed through Thursday, October 22 and operating again from Friday, October 23. Before then, build your Adventureland morning around Jungle Cruise and Pirates; from October 23, confirm Indy in the Disneyland app the morning you go.
- Mad Tea Party: closed September 14–October 15; the teacups have been spinning again since Friday, October 16.
- Fantasmic!: remaining dark nights are October 19–22 and 26–29. On those nights, plan on Halloween Screams (select nights) as your Disneyland Park evening show.
- “it’s a small world”: the classic version closes October 30 for the Holiday overlay (October 29 is the last day to ride it). The Holiday version is listed from November 13. More on the small world closure.
- Oogie Boogie Bash: sold out for 2026, so don’t plan a trip around getting a ticket.
Schedules can change, so verify in the Disneyland app the day before. Our Disneyland closures and refurbishment hub has the full list for both parks and gets updated as Disney changes things.
The full Halloween Time season runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, meaning everything people associate with Disneyland at Halloween has been running for ten weeks by the time October begins. But October still draws significantly larger crowds than September for a specific reason: fall breaks. California, Utah, and Nevada schools all schedule week-long fall breaks at different points in October, most centered around Columbus Day weekend. Add in the growing Halloween-season popularity, Oogie Boogie Bash running 14 nights in October alone, and the approach of Halloween night itself, and you get a month where sustained high crowds are the expectation rather than the exception. Thinking about a holiday trip instead? See Disneyland in December.
That does not mean October is the wrong time to visit. It means knowing which weeks to target, and which to avoid, makes the difference between a great trip and a frustrating one. Here is everything you need to plan your October 2026 visit correctly.
The October 2026 Ticket Price Increase: What Changed
Disneyland’s annual price increase landed on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, right on its usual early-October schedule. It turned out milder than most years. One-day, one-park tickets in Tiers 1 through 4 rose $5 each, so Tier 1 is now $134, Tier 2 is $154, Tier 3 is $174 and Tier 4 is $189. The $104 Tier 0 ticket, the $199 Tier 5 ticket and the $224 Tier 6 ticket did not change. Lightning Lane Multi Pass went up $1, to $35 per person per day when you buy it in advance, and day-of prices start around $38. Want to lower that cost? Here are 9 legit ways to get cheap Disneyland tickets.
What did not change matters just as much. Multi-day tickets, Magic Key annual passes and $40 standard parking all held at their old prices. So if you are visiting later in October and haven’t bought tickets yet, a multi-day ticket is still the best value, and the increase mostly affects families buying a single day. Authorized sellers such as Get Away Today held pre-increase prices on many tickets through Oct 19, 2026; that window has closed, but a free quote from Get Away Today is still worth comparing against Disney’s gate price for your dates.
For a family of four on a Tier 3 day, one-day, one-park tickets now total $696, up $20, and adding advance Multi Pass brings the day to $836 before food or parking. Our October 2026 Disneyland price increase breakdown has the before-and-after table for every tier.

October 2026 Crowd Breakdown: Three Distinct Windows
Like August, October is not a uniform month. It breaks into three meaningfully different periods with different crowd profiles.
Early October (October 1-8): The Underrated Window
The first week of October is the quietest stretch of the entire month. School is in session across the region. The rush of late-September visitors has cleared. Halloween Time is in full swing but the Halloween-week surge has not yet arrived. October 1 and 2 specifically are projected as the lowest-crowd days of the month by most planning resources.
Weekdays from October 1 through October 8 are the sweet spot for anyone who wants October at Disneyland without October crowds. Wait times on headliners can run 30-50 minutes rather than the 60-90 minutes you will see in the Columbus Day window. The weather is excellent, typically low-to-mid 70s in the afternoon with cool evenings. The park is decorated fully for Halloween, Haunted Mansion Holiday is running, and the whole Halloween atmosphere is present without the density of guests that makes mid-October harder. Planning a later trip? Our Holidays at Disneyland 2026 guide covers dates, shows, Santa and what costs extra. Heading here after Halloween? Our Disneyland in November guide covers the changeover and Thanksgiving.
Because the October 6 increase only touched one-day Tiers 1 through 4, multi-day tickets for any October date still cost what they did before the change.
Mid-October (October 9-18): Avoid If Possible
Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples Day falls on October 12, 2026. The surrounding stretch from roughly October 9 through October 18 is the busiest continuous crowd window in October. California schools, Utah schools, and Nevada schools all schedule fall breaks in this range, often overlapping with the three-day Columbus Day weekend. The combination pushes Disneyland to near-peak capacity on multiple consecutive days.
Columbus Day weekend itself, October 10-12, is one of the highest-demand three-day weekends of the year at Disneyland. Expect upper-tier ticket pricing on those days (Tier 5 is $199 and Tier 6 is $224 for an adult single-park ticket; check Disney’s calendar for your date), Lightning Lane Multi Pass selling out early in the morning, and wait times on Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers exceeding 90 minutes by 10am.
If your trip falls in this window because of your own school schedule, the strategy is the same as any peak period: arrive at park opening, prioritize your two or three must-do rides in the first 90 minutes, and use Lightning Lane for everything else. Our Lightning Lane guide and the Disneyland Lightning Lane Calculator are the tools to build your day strategy before you arrive.
Late October (October 19-31): The Halloween Stretch
After Columbus Day and fall break week, crowds settle into a moderate pattern for a brief stretch before building again as Halloween itself approaches. October 19-25 on weekdays is a legitimate window to visit with reasonable expectations, particularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The final week of October is its own thing. Halloween weekend, October 29-31, draws guests who want to experience Halloween night at Disneyland specifically. October 31 is among the most atmospheric days of the entire year at the resort, the final Oogie Boogie Bash night, the last day of Halloween Time, and an occasion that locals and regulars treat as something special. It is also one of the most crowded non-holiday days of the year. If experiencing Halloween night at Disneyland is on your list, go with clear eyes about the crowds or plan around the morning hours before the late-day surge.
The best late-October dates for guests with flexibility are October 19-23 and October 26-28. These are weekdays after fall break week has cleared but before the Halloween weekend surge. Crowds are moderate, the full Halloween atmosphere is at its most maximized, and the park is running full seasonal entertainment every night.
Halloween Time at Disneyland: What Is Included With Your Ticket
The most important thing to understand about Halloween Time is that the vast majority of what makes October special at Disneyland is included with your regular park admission. You do not need Oogie Boogie Bash tickets to have a full Halloween experience. Here is what comes with your ticket throughout October.
Haunted Mansion Holiday is the crown jewel of included Halloween Time content. The classic Haunted Mansion transforms into a Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay, blending Jack Skellington, Sally, and the Holiday Who’s Holiday theme into every room of the existing ride. In 2026 the gingerbread house in the ballroom is all new. The wait for Haunted Mansion Holiday can stretch to 60-90 minutes on busy October weekends, and the Lightning Lane for it goes fast. Visit during the first hour of park opening or in the final two hours before park close for the shortest waits. For every current closure and reopening date, see our Disneyland ride closures.
Halloween Screams is the nighttime fireworks spectacular at Disneyland Park, offered on select nights throughout the season. The show features Halloween-themed projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle, fireworks, and a villains-forward narrative. Check the Disneyland app before your visit to confirm which October evenings Halloween Screams is scheduled, as it does not run every night.
In Disney California Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark is the Haunted Mansion Holiday equivalent. The ride transforms its overlay to a Halloween version every afternoon and evening during the season, featuring Rocket Raccoon trying to rescue Groot from monsters after the Guardians have left the building. Note that Monsters After Dark is only available starting in the afternoon; if you arrive at rope drop, you will experience the standard Guardians ride until the overlay activates around midday. Check the Disneyland app for the specific activation time on your visit day.
Other included highlights across both parks: Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree in Cars Land, Luigi’s Honkin Haul-O-Ween, Radiator Screams (the Cars Land overlay with Halloween-costumed characters), Mickey’s Trick and Treat at DCA, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit (a scavenger hunt for kids across the resort that comes with a keepsake), and the hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins that line Main Street USA. Characters in Halloween costumes appear throughout both parks, and Mickey, Minnie, and friends greet guests in Town Square wearing 2026-exclusive Halloween outfits.
Plaza de la Familia, the Coco-inspired Dia de los Muertos celebration in Paradise Gardens Park at DCA, also runs through November 2, 2026, slightly outlasting the rest of Halloween Time. If you visit in late October, this is an especially rich overlay with live entertainment, Miguel character appearances, and ofrenda-inspired decor. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful seasonal experiences at either park.
Oogie Boogie Bash in October 2026: Is It Worth It?
Oogie Boogie Bash is a separately ticketed after-hours event held at Disney California Adventure on 14 nights in October 2026. October dates are October 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, and 31. October tickets were $169 to $199, with $199 on Halloween night (per Disney’s event page, as of October 15, 2026). General public tickets went on sale June 18, 2026, and the event is now sold out, so this section is mainly useful if you already hold a ticket.
The event runs from 6pm to 11pm, with early park access beginning at 3pm for ticket holders. Regular DCA guests are asked to exit around 6pm on party nights, which affects planning for guests who do not have Bash tickets and want to spend time at California Adventure.
The biggest change for 2026 is the replacement of the Frightfully Fun Parade with “Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake: A Haunted Mansion Street Party.” The parade has been a fan favorite and its absence is a legitimate downgrade for longtime Bash attendees. Disney has framed the new street party as a compensation, with Madame Leota herself hosting a spectral show featuring happy haunts and ghoulish dancing, but the community reception has been mixed. Whether the new entertainment replaces what the parade provided is something only the first-night attendees will be able to judge.
What remains from prior years is still genuinely excellent. The villain treat trails with rare character appearances are the core reason most people buy Bash tickets, and those continue in 2026 with new villains and returning favorites. Villains Grove at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, the atmospheric walkthrough experience with lighting effects and villain-themed scenes, is one of the best experiences anywhere at the resort during the Halloween season. The event’s limited capacity means wait times are meaningfully shorter than regular park days, which matters a lot on a night when you want to maximize rides in addition to the event-specific entertainment.
The Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party is available as an add-on for an additional cost, providing preferred seating for Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake and a curated Nightmare Before Christmas-themed treat selection.
The honest answer on whether Bash is worth the cost depends on your priorities. If Halloween atmosphere, rare villain meet and greets, and the villain treat trails are things your group specifically wants, the Bash delivers those things in a way no standard park day can replicate. If you primarily want rides and the general Halloween decorations, a regular Halloween Time day without the Bash gives you all of that for the price of your standard admission. You do not need Bash tickets to experience October at Disneyland well. Read the full breakdown in our Oogie Boogie Bash guide.
How Oogie Boogie Bash Nights Affect Non-Bash Guests
This is the practical detail most October visitors overlook. On every Oogie Boogie Bash night, Disney California Adventure begins clearing non-party guests around 5-6pm. If you do not have a Bash ticket and you want to use DCA that day, plan your entire DCA experience in the morning and early afternoon, then hop to Disneyland Park for the evening.
The counterintuitive benefit: on Bash nights, Disneyland Park is often less crowded in the evening because a meaningful percentage of guests have either headed into the Bash at DCA or left the resort entirely. Late evening visits to Disneyland Park on Bash nights can have surprisingly manageable wait times, particularly after 8pm when the park quiets further. Halloween Screams fireworks at Disneyland Park are a strong alternative to the Bash entertainment for guests who want a nighttime experience without the separate ticket cost.
DCA is also excellent on the morning of Bash nights. Because guests know DCA closes early, some locals and experienced visitors skip it entirely on those days, creating lighter-than-typical morning crowds. The first three hours after DCA opening on a Bash night are a genuine hidden window.
October 2026 Weather: What to Expect
October is one of the two best weather months to visit Disneyland, alongside November. The heat that defines summer has broken. Rain remains essentially impossible until late November at the earliest. Average highs run 72-78°F in October, with lows dropping to the mid-50s in the evenings. The Santa Ana wind events that occasionally hit Southern California in October can push temperatures briefly higher, sometimes into the mid-80s for a day or two, but these are short-lived and rare.
The practical wardrobe implication: bring a light jacket for evenings. The drop from afternoon to evening temperatures is 20 degrees or more, and standing in a parade viewing spot at 8pm with a 55-degree wind is a different situation than being in line for a ride at 2pm. Layer accordingly. Unlike August, you do not need a cooling strategy for October. The weather genuinely works in your favor for walking and standing outdoors.
October 2026 Ticket Prices
These are the one-day, one-park prices in effect since October 6, 2026: Tier 0 $104, Tier 1 $134, Tier 2 $154, Tier 3 $174, Tier 4 $189, Tier 5 $199 and Tier 6 $224. October leans toward the middle and upper tiers. Here is what to expect by window.
Late October weekdays mostly sit in Tier 3 or Tier 4, so plan on $174 to $189 for an adult single-park ticket. Weekends and the days around Halloween climb toward Tier 5 ($199), and the busiest fall-break dates can reach the top tier. Disney Tourist Blog reports that Tier 6 ($224) dates are now concentrated around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, so check Disney’s calendar for your exact day rather than assuming the top price.
As always, multi-day Park Hopper tickets bring the per-day cost down significantly. A 3-day Park Hopper through Get Away Today is still priced as it was before the increase, since multi-day tickets held flat, and it covers both parks. That matters in October when splitting time between Disneyland Park and DCA on both regular days and Bash consideration days is part of the strategy.
What October Gets Right That Other Months Do Not
The weather alone makes October worth considering over summer. Comfortable afternoon temperatures, cool evenings, and zero heat management required changes the experience fundamentally for families with young kids and anyone who struggled in July or August.
Halloween Time in October is also at its most fully realized. The pumpkin displays on Main Street are at peak. Characters are in full Halloween costume. The seasonal food and merchandise is at maximum availability. The parks have been living in Halloween mode for two months by October, which means every detail is polished and nothing is still being finalized the way it sometimes is in the first weeks of late August.
Haunted Mansion Holiday in October is also running its full schedule without the Bash-night interference patterns that affect DCA. You can plan a full day around the Haunted Mansion Holiday experience without worrying about early closures affecting your evening.
What October Does Less Well
The Columbus Day window is genuinely difficult. If your only option is the second week of October, go prepared for summer-level crowds with fall weather. Do not let the comfortable temperatures make you complacent about the wait times.
Oogie Boogie Bash on 14 nights out of 31 means that nearly every other day in October has DCA closing early for the event. There is no clean week in October where you can treat both parks as equally available on every evening. You have to plan around the Bash calendar regardless of whether you are attending it.
The 70th Anniversary nighttime lineup is over. Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys both ended on August 20, 2026, after an extension past their original August 9 end date, so guests who planned around 70th entertainment will find October firmly in the post-anniversary era. Halloween Screams runs on select nights through October 31. Mickey’s Mix Magic fills November 1–12, and Believe… In Holiday Magic and A Christmas Fantasy Parade start November 13. Magic Happens and Remember… Dreams Come True are set to return in 2027.
Who Should Visit Disneyland in October (And Who Should Look Elsewhere)
October is an excellent choice for adults and families without school-age children who can target early October weekdays or the October 19-28 window. The Halloween atmosphere is at its most complete, the weather is the best of any time since spring, and visiting on a Bash night without a Bash ticket is a legitimate strategy that keeps DCA to the mornings and Disneyland Park to the evenings.
October is also a strong choice for anyone specifically wanting Oogie Boogie Bash. The October dates have the highest Bash attendance demand and the most Halloween energy around the event. If the Bash was going to be the centerpiece of your trip, note that 2026 is sold out. Plan on Halloween Screams and Haunted Mansion Holiday instead, and watch for 2027 dates next summer.
October is harder for families locked into Columbus Day weekend or fall break week with no flexibility. Those specific dates are peak-summer-equivalent crowds with all the difficulty that entails. Not impossible, but requiring more preparation than casual visitors usually bring.
Guests who want Halloween Time with lower crowds should look at September instead. Late September, particularly the weekdays of September 14-25, offers full Halloween Time with meaningfully lower attendance than any week in October. The tradeoff is fewer Bash dates and a shorter runway before the season ends.
The Bottom Line
October is the most atmospheric month at Disneyland. Two full parks transformed for Halloween, the best weather of the second half of the year, Haunted Mansion Holiday at its peak, and the singular energy of Oogie Boogie Bash on its busiest nights. The tradeoff is that October is also the month where crowds have grown the fastest in recent years, largely because visitors discovered what SoCal locals already knew.
The formula for a great October trip is straightforward. Go in early October or the week of October 19-28 if your schedule allows. Compare a multi-day quote against one-day prices, since only one-day tickets went up on October 6. Plan your DCA days around the Bash calendar. Use the evenings on Bash nights at Disneyland Park. Arrive at opening every day. And accept that Haunted Mansion Holiday will have a line no matter what, because it always does, and it is always worth it.

FAQ
October can be excellent or very crowded depending on your specific dates. Early October weekdays (October 1-8) and the October 19-28 weekday window offer full Halloween Time with manageable crowds. Columbus Day weekend (October 10-12) and the surrounding fall break weeks (October 9-18) are among the busiest days of the entire year and should be avoided if your schedule has any flexibility. The weather in October is genuinely outstanding, with highs in the low-to-mid 70s and cool evenings.
Halloween Time runs August 21 through October 31, 2026, and is included with standard park admission. In October, guests experience the full lineup: Haunted Mansion Holiday (Nightmare Before Christmas overlay), Halloween Screams nighttime fireworks at Disneyland Park, Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark at DCA, Radiator Screams and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree in Cars Land, Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit scavenger hunt, Plaza de la Familia (Coco-inspired Dia de los Muertos celebration), and hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins throughout the parks. All of this is included with your park ticket with no additional purchase required.
Oogie Boogie Bash October 2026 dates are October 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, and 31. The event is held at Disney California Adventure and is separately ticketed. Tickets for October dates were $169 to $199 per person depending on the night (per Disney’s event page, as of October 15, 2026). General public tickets went on sale June 18, 2026. The 2026 Bash is sold out; every date showed sold out on Disney’s site at our last check.
The Bash is worth it if rare villain character appearances, the treat trails, and Villains Grove are priorities for your group. The event delivers a genuinely different experience from a standard park day, with limited-capacity crowd levels and exclusive entertainment. For 2026, the Frightfully Fun Parade has been replaced by Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, a new Haunted Mansion-inspired street party. Guests who specifically want the parade experience will not find it this year. If your main interest is Halloween decorations, Haunted Mansion Holiday, and the general October atmosphere, a standard park ticket covers all of that without the additional Bash cost.
The two least crowded windows in October 2026 are October 1-8 (particularly October 1-2) and October 19-28 (weekdays). Both periods fall outside the Columbus Day fall break surge that makes mid-October the busiest stretch. For the rest of the month, October 19-23 and 26-28 weekdays are the best bets.
It already took effect. On October 6, 2026, Disneyland raised one-day, one-park Tiers 1 through 4 by $5 (now $134, $154, $174 and $189), while Tier 0 ($104), Tier 5 ($199) and Tier 6 ($224) held. Lightning Lane Multi Pass now starts at $35 in advance and $38 or more day-of. Multi-day tickets, Magic Keys and parking did not change, so a multi-day ticket is still the best value for late October visits.
Two notable changes headline 2026. At Oogie Boogie Bash, the Frightfully Fun Parade has been replaced by Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake, a new street party hosted by Madame Leota herself and inspired by the Haunted Mansion attraction. Inside Haunted Mansion Holiday, the classic ballroom scene features an all-new gingerbread house design for 2026. Mickey, Minnie, and friends are also in brand-new 2026-exclusive Halloween costumes for character greetings in Town Square, and the Monsters Inc. Hotel at Pixar Place Hotel adds new Monsters Inc.-inspired Halloween decor for the season.
