A collection of free Disneyland birthday buttons and stickers on a wooden table at the resort entrance.

Last Updated on May 11, 2026

Disneyland is expensive. Tickets, food, souvenirs, Lightning Lane, parking. It adds up fast. But scattered throughout the resort are dozens of genuinely free experiences, services, and souvenirs that most guests walk past without ever knowing they exist. Some of these are well-known, others are insider secrets that even annual passholders miss, and a few of them can actually save you money every single hour you are in the park.

โš ๏ธ Not Staying At The Resort? Check out our guide on 25 free things you can do outside of the parks!

This is the complete list for 2026, organized by category: free souvenirs and keepsakes, free food and drinks, free experiences and entertainment, and free services that save you money. Every item on this list costs nothing beyond your existing park admission or, in several cases, requires no admission at all.

Free Souvenirs and Keepsakes

1. Celebration Buttons

Whether it is your first visit, a birthday, an anniversary, a honeymoon, or anything else worth celebrating, Disneyland gives out free personalized buttons at City Hall, Guest Relations, and most merchandise locations throughout the resort. Cast Members will often write your name and add small doodles or hand-drawn details. Available designs include “First Visit,” “Happy Birthday,” “Happily Ever After,” and the open-ended “I’m Celebrating” which works for anything.

Here is the part most people do not realize: wearing a button changes how your entire day feels. Cast Members greet you differently. Characters acknowledge you. Other guests smile and wish you well. The button becomes a signal that invites small moments of magic throughout the day. Occasionally, not guaranteed, it can lead to surprise perks like a complimentary dessert or extra attention during a character interaction. At the very least, it is a personalized, completely free souvenir that captures the reason for your trip.

2. Seasonal and Collectible Park Maps

Grab one of the free paper guide maps near the park entrances every time you visit. These change seasonally and during special events, which makes them genuine collectibles over time. Halloween, Christmas, the 70th anniversary, and other overlays all get their own map artwork. Most guests ignore these because they use the app, but the physical maps become surprisingly meaningful time capsules of specific trips. They are available in multiple languages.

There is also a family adventure map available at the main gates, designed with playful illustrations and tips for families with young kids. The artwork changes for holidays and events, making it another free collectible most guests skip.

3. Jungle Cruise Map

After riding the Jungle Cruise, ask a Cast Member at the ride exit for a free Jungle Cruise map. They will not offer it unprompted. You have to know to ask. The map shows the route of the cruise with illustrated details and is one of the most charming free paper souvenirs at the park. Supplies are limited, so ask early in the day.

4. Indiana Jones Decoder Card

At Indiana Jones Adventure, ask a Cast Member at the attraction entrance for a free decoder card. The card lets you translate the mysterious writing on the walls inside the temple queue. It turns the wait into an interactive experience rather than just standing in line, and the card itself is a unique keepsake. These can run out on busy days, so ask when you arrive at the queue, not when you exit.

5. Bina’s Guide to the Creatures of Batuu

Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Creature Stall in the marketplace, ask a Cast Member for Bina’s Guide. This is a small in-universe booklet that sends you on a scavenger hunt throughout Galaxy’s Edge, collecting stamps from Cast Members as you find specific creatures. Complete the guide and show it to a Cast Member at the end for a paper token prize. It is completely free and turns Galaxy’s Edge into an interactive adventure beyond just riding Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance.

6. Autopia Driver’s License

After riding Autopia in Tomorrowland, ask a Cast Member for a free driver’s license card. It is a simple paper souvenir that commemorates your time behind the wheel and is especially fun for kids experiencing “driving” for the first time. The version without your photo is completely free. A photo version is available for a small fee. With Autopia converting to electric vehicles by early 2027, this is your last chance to get the gas-powered era version of the card.

Since Autopia is converting to electric by 2027, these gas-powered licenses are becoming limited-edition keepsakes. Get yours before the Tomorrowland overhaul begins.

7. Mark Twain Riverboat Pilot’s License

On the Mark Twain Riverboat in Frontierland, guests are occasionally invited up to the wheelhouse to pilot the ship. It does not happen automatically, but if you ask politely at the boarding podium before the voyage, you may get the chance. At the end of the ride, you sign the guest log and receive a personalized pilot’s license certificate. This has been part of the Disneyland experience for decades and is one of the most special free souvenirs at the park. Ask early in the day and with a smile. Supplies and opportunities are not guaranteed.

8. First Rider Guest Books

Every morning at a handful of attractions, the very first person in line gets to sign a special guest book before anyone else rides. The most famous is the Pooh Book at The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Storybook Land Canal Boats has the Captain’s Log, and Chip ‘n Dale’s GADGETcoaster has its own book in Toontown. The books are not advertised and availability varies by day. Being first requires a committed rope drop strategy. Read our complete guide to the secret first rider books for the full breakdown.

9. Cast Member Stickers

Cast Members throughout the park carry free stickers, especially those working near attractions, sweeping walkways, or helping with crowd flow. They are not always displayed, so you usually have to ask. If one Cast Member does not have any, they will point you to someone who does. Kids love them. Adults collect them. By the end of the day, they end up on water bottles, shirts, and backpacks. A sticker during a long wait can completely change a child’s mood. Cast Members taking park surveys also typically have stickers for anyone who participates.

10. Pixie Dust at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Outside the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland, near Sleeping Beauty Castle, you can ask a fairy godmother’s apprentice (Cast Member) for a free pixie dusting. They will have you close your eyes, make a wish, and sprinkle a bit of shimmer over your head. It takes 10 seconds and somehow feels like a full Disney moment. This is not just for kids. Adults can do it too. Fair warning: that glitter will follow you home.

11. Themed Coasters at Lamplight Lounge and Oga’s Cantina

When you order a drink at Lamplight Lounge on Pixar Pier or Oga’s Cantina in Galaxy’s Edge (when it reopens), your drink comes on an illustrated paper coaster featuring Pixar characters or Star Wars designs. These are free to take home and make surprisingly fun collectibles. Save them in your bag and they become part of a Disney bar collection at home.

Free Food and Drinks

12. Free Cups of Ice Water

Nearly every quick service restaurant at Disneyland will give you a free cup of ice water if you ask. No purchase required, no hassle. This is the single easiest way to save money at Disneyland. Buying bottled water every hour at $5 to $6 adds up to $20 to $30 per person per day. Ask for free water cups instead and that money stays in your wallet. The cups are small, but you can ask for multiple cups across multiple locations throughout the day.

13. Water Bottle Refill Stations

Both parks have filtered water bottle refill stations spread throughout, usually near restrooms or tucked into themed areas. The water tastes better than standard fountains and is cold. Bring a refillable bottle from home and you never need to buy bottled water at the park. Open the Disneyland app and search “bottle filling stations” to find the nearest one. Some quick service restaurants like Galactic Grill and Alien Pizza Planet also have self-serve filtered water stations where you can refill your own bottle.

14. Baby Care Center Water Refills

Both parks’ Baby Care Centers have filtered water stations, and any guest can use them, not just families with infants. These spots are quieter, cooler, and less crowded than the standard refill stations. Walk in, refill your bottle with clean cold water, and be out in under a minute. The air-conditioned environment is a bonus on hot days.

15. Boudin Bakery Sourdough Samples

At the Boudin Bakery Tour in Disney California Adventure’s Pacific Wharf area, the self-guided walkthrough lets you watch bakers make real San Francisco sourdough behind glass. At the end, you are handed a free sample of fresh warm sourdough bread. It is soft, warm, and smells incredible. Not a full meal, but a genuine free snack that can hold you over between meals.

16. Dole Whip Seasonal Samples

When new Dole Whip flavors launch at the Tiki Juice Bar in Adventureland or at other Dole Whip locations throughout the resort, free samples of the new flavors occasionally roll out. This is not available every day, but during seasonal flavor launches it is worth asking. The worst they say is no.

Free Experiences and Entertainment

17. Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough

An entire attraction hidden inside the castle that most guests walk past. The entrance is on the Fantasyland side, through a small door that is easy to miss. Inside, winding staircases lead through handcrafted dioramas telling the story of Princess Aurora, with projection effects, interactive elements, and a fire-breathing dragon scene. It is free, rarely has a line, and takes 10 to 15 minutes. Read our complete guide to the castle walkthrough secrets.

18. Animation Academy Drawing Classes

Inside the Disney Animation Building in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure, talented Disney artists teach free 30-minute drawing classes all day. They guide the room step by step through sketching a Disney character and you keep your drawing as a souvenir. No reservations, no talent required. The schedule changes daily and is posted outside the building each morning. Read our complete Animation Academy schedule guide.

19. Wilderness Explorer Badges at Redwood Creek

At Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Disney California Adventure, pick up a free Wilderness Explorer guide map at the entrance. As you explore the shaded, quiet trail, you complete challenges like spotting animal tracks, climbing lookout towers, and solving puzzles. Each activity earns you a badge. At the end, you can participate in a ceremony where you officially become a senior wilderness explorer. The map is your souvenir, the area is one of the calmest in the park, and the whole experience is free.

20. Play Disney Parks App Interactive Games

The Play Disney Parks app (free download) turns ride queues and themed lands into interactive experiences. In Galaxy’s Edge, the Star Wars: Datapad feature lets you scan crates, hack door panels, translate alien languages, and interact with droids throughout the land. In ride queues for Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and others, the app offers trivia, games, and activities designed to pass the time. All of it is free once you have the app downloaded.

21. Downtown Disney Live Entertainment

The Downtown Disney LIVE! stage hosts free live music and performances on select evenings, ranging from jazz to rock to seasonal shows. You can grab a spot on the lawn and enjoy a full performance without spending anything. Depending on the time of year, free crafts, popup experiences, and family activities also appear throughout the district. No park ticket needed. Check the Disneyland app for the current schedule.

22. Character Meet-and-Greets

Character interactions throughout both parks are included with your park admission and cost nothing extra. Mickey, Minnie, the princesses, Star Wars characters, Pixar characters, and Marvel heroes all appear at designated meet-and-greet locations throughout the day. At Pixar Place Hotel, Bing Bong from Inside Out and Joe Gardner from Soul are exclusive character encounters available in the hotel’s public areas, and they do not require a park ticket or a hotel stay. Completely free and open to everyone.

23. Turtle Talk with Crush

Inside the Animation Building at DCA, Crush from Finding Nemo talks directly to the audience in real time, calling on kids by name and answering their questions. The show runs about 15 minutes in an air-conditioned theater. No height requirement, no reservation, and included with park admission. One of the most underrated free experiences at the resort.

24. The Disneyland Railroad Full Loop

The 20-minute train ride around the perimeter of Disneyland Park passes through the Grand Canyon and Primeval World dioramas featuring life-sized dinosaurs. It is a ride, transportation between four stations across the park, and a built-in rest break all in one. Free with admission and almost never has a significant wait.

Free Services That Save You Money

25. Free WiFi Throughout the Resort

Disneyland Resort offers free WiFi under the network name Disney-Guest throughout both parks, Downtown Disney, and all three resort hotels. Connect via your device settings and accept the terms page. It is good for checking wait times, mobile ordering, and texting your group. It slows down during peak hours, so download park maps and show schedules in the Disneyland app ahead of time for offline access. For a full breakdown of WiFi reliability by location, read our Disneyland phone problems guide.

26. Free Ride Lockers

Most major attractions with height requirements or intense motion offer free short-term lockers near the ride entrance for storing loose items, bags, and hats during the ride. The lockers are free for the duration of your ride on that attraction. This prevents items from falling out of your pockets or bag during Incredicoaster, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Space Mountain, which is how phones end up in the Lost and Found.

27. Free Package Check Service

If you buy merchandise inside the parks and do not want to carry bags around all day, Disneyland offers free package check. Leave your purchases at a designated location (Stroller Rental area in the Esplanade, Star Trader, Port Royal Curios and Curiosities, or Pioneer Mercantile in Disneyland Park; Elias and Co., Sarge’s Surplus Hut, and Avengers Vault in DCA) and pick them up at the end of the day on your way out. You need your receipt, and limited edition items may not be eligible. But for standard purchases, this frees up your hands for the rest of the day.

28. Free Stroller Tire Air Pump

To the right of the stroller rental shop at Disneyland Park, against the bushes behind an iron railing, there is a green metal box about two to three feet high that contains a free air pump for stroller tires. If your tires are low or you discover a soft tire mid-trip, you can inflate them right there at no cost. Almost nobody knows this exists.

29. First Aid Services

Both parks have fully staffed first aid centers, usually located near the park entrance. Trained nurses provide complimentary basics including bandages, over-the-counter medications, and simple treatments. They can also store medications that need refrigeration. Beyond the medical help, the first aid centers are quiet, cool, and calm. In a park that is loud and nonstop, they function as a reset button when your day starts going sideways.

30. PhotoPass Photographers Will Use Your Camera

Disney’s PhotoPass photographers stationed at landmarks, character meet-and-greets, and scenic spots will take photos using your own phone or camera if you ask politely. You get professionally framed and composed shots without paying for the PhotoPass download package. These are the same photographers trained to capture those perfect castle shots and character interactions. Have your phone ready, ask nicely, and say thank you.
