Mickey and Friends Parking structure, early morning traffic lines up to enter.

Last Updated on May 28, 2026

Disneyland parking is more complicated than it needs to be. There are three guest parking locations, two parking structures connected to each other but with separate entrances, a surface lot a mile away with mandatory shuttle service, a tram system that runs between some lots but not others, parking costs that change based on the structure you choose, and rules about which guests use which lot that most first-time visitors learn the hard way.

This guide covers everything. The exact cost of each lot, when each one fills up, which is best for your situation, how the trams and shuttles work, and the strategies most guests do not know that save real time on arrival and departure.

Disneyland Parking Quick Reference

The fastest summary if you only need the basics.

  • Standard parking cost: $40 per vehicle per day at all three guest lots
  • Preferred parking: $60 per vehicle per day (Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals only)
  • Oversized vehicles: $45 per day, Toy Story Lot only
  • Best lot for most guests: Mickey and Friends Parking Structure
  • Best lot if structures are full: Toy Story Parking Area
  • Tram service: Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals only. Toy Story uses shuttle buses.
  • What time lots fill: Never! There is plenty of parking year-round.

The Three Guest Parking Locations

Disneyland Resort has three guest parking locations. Each has a different access route, different price structure, and different relationship to the parks. Understanding which one fits your situation is the foundation of every other parking decision.

Mickey and Friends Parking Structure

The Mickey and Friends Parking Structure at 1313 South Disneyland Drive is the largest parking structure at Disneyland Resort and the default destination for most arriving guests. It has six levels of parking with theme names: Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Donald, and Daisy, plus the basement-level Chip and Dale combined level where EV charging stations are located.

Capacity is approximately 10,250 vehicles. The structure connects directly to a tram loading area that delivers guests to the Disneyland Resort Esplanade, the central plaza between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. The tram ride takes approximately 5-7 minutes from boarding to drop-off.

This is the structure most guests pick by default. It is closest to the parks, has the most direct tram service, and is signed clearly from Interstate 5. The trade-off is that it fills up first on busy days. On weekends and during peak season, the structure can begin closing levels to incoming guests as early as 10am.

Mickey and Friends is accessed from Disneyland Drive. The structure opens approximately one hour before the earliest park opening time of the day. If Disneyland opens at 8am, the structure opens at 7am.

Pixar Pals Parking Structure

Pixar Pals is the newer parking structure adjacent to Mickey and Friends, accessed via Magic Way off Disneyland Drive. The two structures are physically connected and share the same tram loading area, but they have separate vehicle entrances. The structures function as one combined parking system from a guest experience standpoint once you are inside, but the entry route matters because Mickey and Friends often fills first and Disney redirects incoming traffic to Pixar Pals when it does.

Pixar Pals has five levels also themed after Pixar characters. Capacity is approximately 6,800 vehicles. The structure opened in 2024 and is more modern than Mickey and Friends, with brighter lighting, wider aisles, and updated wayfinding.

The critical thing to know about Pixar Pals: Level 2, called the Daisy level, has EV charging stations reserved exclusively for Cast Members. Guest EV charging is on Level 3. If you arrive in an EV and a Cast Member directs you to Level 2 chargers, clarify that you need the guest chargers on Level 3.

The Pixar Pals direct entrance from Magic Way is typically accessible during morning hours from structure opening until approximately 11am. After that, the Magic Way entrance may close and incoming guests are redirected to the Mickey and Friends entrance. Internally, the structures are connected, so you can still access Pixar Pals levels from within Mickey and Friends regardless of the entrance.

Toy Story Parking Area

The Toy Story Parking Area is an uncovered surface lot at 1900 South Harbor Boulevard near Katella Avenue, approximately one mile south of the parks. It has approximately 5,300 spaces.

Toy Story is significantly different from the structures in how it connects to the parks. Instead of a tram, guests board shuttle buses that run to the Main Entrance Esplanade. The bus ride takes approximately 10-15 minutes including loading time, compared to the 5-7 minute tram ride from the structures.

The advantages of Toy Story are real and underappreciated. The lot rarely fills up, even on the busiest days of the year. It is the required parking location for oversized vehicles including RVs, motor homes, buses, and any vehicle exceeding the 13 feet 10 inch height limit of the structures. The lot is significantly easier to navigate at end-of-day departure because there is no spiraling drive down through five or six structure levels. And for EV guests, Toy Story has 40-80 ChargePoint Level 2 stations that are reliably available even when the structure EV spots are full.

The trade-off is the slightly longer commute and the lack of tram-side convenience. If you have small children, heavy strollers, or mobility challenges, the bus loading process is more involved than the tram. For families, the structures are easier. For solo guests, couples, and anyone arriving late morning when the structures may be full, Toy Story is often the better choice.

Toy Story is best accessed from Interstate 5 southbound, exiting at Disney Way, or from northbound by exiting at Katella Avenue and heading west to Harbor Boulevard.

Disneyland Parking Cost (2026)

Disneyland parking costs increased in October 2025 to the rates currently in effect for 2026. Here is the current pricing structure across all three guest parking locations.

Parking TypeCost Per DayLocations
Car or Motorcycle (Standard)$40Mickey and Friends, Pixar Pals, Toy Story
Preferred Parking$60Mickey and Friends, Pixar Pals
Oversized Vehicle or Motor Home$45Toy Story only
Bus or Extended Trailer$50Toy Story only

Preferred Parking is a designated section on the lower floors of Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals that is closer to the elevators and escalators leading to the tram loading area. The premium gets you a shorter walk to the tram, which can save 5-10 minutes on arrival and departure. Whether the $20 upcharge is worth it depends on how much you value the time savings and whether you have mobility considerations or small children.

Magic Key holders receive parking discounts based on their tier:

  • Inspire Key: Complimentary standard parking at all three guest parking locations (Mickey and Friends, Pixar Pals, and Toy Story)
  • Dream Key: 50% off standard parking at all three guest parking locations
  • Enchant Key: 25% off standard parking at the Toy Story Parking Area only (no discount at the structures)
  • Imagine Key: 25% off standard parking at the Toy Story Parking Area only (no discount at the structures)

Preferred Parking is not discounted for any Magic Key tier and requires the full $20 upcharge over standard for all passholders. Magic Key parking discounts apply only to theme park parking lots, not to Downtown Disney or the on-site hotels.

Payment is accepted by credit card at the parking entrance booths. Disneyland Resort transitioned away from cash payment in recent years. The booths accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless credit cards. Magic Key holders scan their pass at the booth.

One important note: parking is per day with in-and-out privileges included. If you exit and re-enter the same parking lot on the same day, you do not pay again. Keep your receipt for verification at re-entry.

The Disneyland Tram System

The Disneyland trams run between the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures and the Resort Esplanade. The trams are tractor-pulled trains of open-air passenger cars that operate continuously throughout the day. The system carries an estimated 50,000+ guests per day during peak season.

Trams board at a covered loading area between the two structures and drop guests at the Esplanade just outside the security checkpoint. The ride takes approximately 5-7 minutes including boarding and unloading. Trams run as frequently as every 60-90 seconds during peak times.

Boarding is first-come, first-served. There is no assigned seating. Each tram car holds approximately 20-25 guests. During morning rope drop and evening departure, lines for tram boarding can stretch significantly but generally move quickly because of the high tram frequency.

Strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs can board the trams. Specific cars at the front or back of each tram are designed for wheelchair and ECV access. Cast members at the loading area direct guests with mobility devices to the appropriate boarding car.

Important detail for parents: small children should be held on laps while the tram is in motion. The cars do not have seatbelts and they do make turns. The tram drivers will not begin moving until they confirm all guests are seated and children are held securely.

The trams stop running approximately one hour after the last park closes. If you are at the parks after closing, particularly for after-hours events, plan to be at the Esplanade before this cutoff or the walk back to your structure will be on foot.

The Toy Story Shuttle Bus

The Toy Story Parking Area does not have tram service. Guests parked at Toy Story take shuttle buses to the main entrance Esplanade.

The shuttle buses run continuously throughout the day, departing from a designated loading zone at the Toy Story Lot. Buses operate from approximately one hour before park opening until one hour after the last park closes. Bus frequency varies based on demand. During morning rope drop and evening departure, buses run as frequently as every 5-7 minutes. During midday lulls, the gap may stretch to 10-15 minutes.

The bus ride to the Esplanade takes approximately 10 minutes depending on traffic on Harbor Boulevard. The buses drop guests at a different location than the trams, on the south side of the Esplanade near the entrance to Disney California Adventure.

The buses accommodate strollers and wheelchairs but loading takes longer than the trams. Strollers typically need to be folded before boarding. ECVs board through a wheelchair-accessible ramp at the rear of designated buses.

For end-of-day departure, the return bus trip can be slower than the morning ride because of post-closure traffic and the need for the buses to navigate guest crowds. Plan for the bus trip back to take 15-20 minutes from boarding to arrival at the Toy Story Lot.

Security and Bag Check

Every Disneyland guest passes through a security screening at the Esplanade between the parking trams/buses and the actual park entrances. The screening process changed significantly in recent years with the introduction of metal detectors and updated bag check procedures.

Current screening uses Evolv Express weapons-detection systems, the same technology used at major sports venues and concert venues. Guests walk through a portal that uses radio frequency and metal detection to screen for prohibited items. The system is faster than traditional metal detectors because guests do not need to empty pockets or remove most personal items.

Bag check is separate and runs alongside the weapons screening. All bags entering Disneyland Resort property are subject to inspection. Guests place bags on inspection tables where security personnel visually verify the contents. The process takes approximately 30 seconds per bag in normal conditions and longer during peak arrival times.

For the fastest entry, arrive early in the morning (before 8am) when security lines are shortest, bring the smallest bag practical for your day, do not bring prohibited items, and walk directly to the entrance after security clearance.

Full details on what is and is not allowed are in the Enchanted Insider complete allowed and banned items guide. The Disneyland bag check guide covers the specific screening process in detail.

Which Disneyland Parking Lot Should You Use?

The right parking lot depends on your situation. Here is the practical decision framework.

If you are arriving before 8am for rope drop: Mickey and Friends Parking Structure . You will get a spot easily, the tram is fastest, and you save the longest walking and loading time. This is the optimal choice for early arrivers.

If you are arriving between 8am and 9:30am: Mickey and Friends or Pixar Pals. Both will likely still have spots, and Disney will direct you to whichever has availability when you arrive. The tram service is the same either way.

If you are arriving after 10am on a busy day: Plan for Toy Story Parking Area. The structures may be closing levels to incoming traffic, and finding a spot near the tram can become frustrating. Toy Story rarely fills and the bus ride is a reasonable trade for guaranteed parking.

If you have an oversized vehicle (RV, motor home, anything over 13 feet 10 inches tall): Toy Story Parking Area is your only option at $45 per day. The structures cannot accommodate oversized vehicles regardless of when you arrive.

If you are driving a bus or have an extended trailer: Toy Story Parking Area at $50 per day. The structures cannot accommodate these vehicles.

If you are driving an EV and need to charge: Mickey and Friends Chip and Dale level (limited spots, fills by 9am), Pixar Pals Level 3 (limited spots), or Toy Story Bullseye section (40-80 ports, most reliable availability). The Enchanted Insider EV charging guide covers each location in detail.

If you have mobility challenges or are traveling with young children: The structures are easier than Toy Story because of the direct tram service. Mickey and Friends Preferred Parking is worth the $20 upcharge in this situation because it minimizes the walking distance to the tram loading area.

If you are an Inspire Key holder: Standard parking is complimentary at all three lots. Choose based on arrival time and convenience, not cost.

If you are dropping someone off and not parking: Use the Harbor Boulevard guest drop-off and pick-up area instead of either parking structure. Details in the Harbor Boulevard drop-off guide.

How to Save Time on Disneyland Parking

The biggest time losses on Disneyland parking happen at three points: arrival lines into the structure, security screening at the Esplanade, and the end-of-day exit. Here is how to minimize each.

Arrive before 8am or after 11am. The peak arrival window of 8-10am produces the longest entry lines at the parking booths. Arriving 30-60 minutes before park opening gets you through with no wait. Arriving after the rope drop rush is over (11am+) also avoids the queue. The window in between is the worst.

Have payment ready before you reach the booth. Open your credit card app, get your contactless card to hand, or have your Magic Key card out. The line moves significantly faster when guests are ready to pay immediately.

Pre-pay for parking when you buy your park tickets. Disneyland allows you to add parking to your ticket purchase online. You receive a parking voucher to print or display on your mobile app. This bypasses the payment step at the booth entirely and can save a couple of minutes during peak arrival.

Use the app’s Car Locator feature. When you park, immediately mark your location in the Disneyland app. At end of day after 12+ hours in the parks, finding your car on the Goofy level versus the Pluto level is the difference between a smooth exit and a 20-minute hunt.

Avoid the post-fireworks exit rush. If you are willing to stay 30 minutes past closing or leave 30 minutes before, you avoid the worst tram and parking exit lines. The crush from 9:45pm to 10:30pm is the longest exit window of the day.

For Toy Story Lot guests: The bus return trip after closing can be slower than the morning. If you are willing to walk the mile back to Toy Story, the walk takes about 20 minutes and avoids the bus queue. Not for everyone, but viable for fit adults with energy left.

Consider not parking at all. If you are staying at a hotel within walking distance of the parks (the closest Good Neighbor hotels are 5-15 minute walks), the math on parking changes. Paying $40 per day in parking every day of your trip can exceed the cost of one of these hotels. Full breakdown of walking-distance hotels in the Good Neighbor Hotels guide.

Disneyland Hotel Parking

If you are staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, Pixar Place), you have different parking options than day guests.

Disneyland Hotel: Self-parking is available in the Fantasy and Dreams lots adjacent to the hotel. Hotel guest self-parking and valet rates are charged per night and vary by season. Day-use parking is not available for non-hotel guests.

Grand Californian Hotel: Self-parking is available in the hotel’s adjacent structure . Hotel guest self-parking and valet rates are charged per night. The Grand Californian also offers valet for non-guests dining at Napa Rose or Storytellers Café.

Pixar Place Hotel: Self-parking is available in the hotel’s parking structure. The structure has a 6 feet 8 inch height clearance that does not accommodate larger vehicles. Larger vehicles must use overflow parking at Toy Story Lot.

All three resort hotels have direct walking paths to the parks. Disneyland Hotel guests walk through Downtown Disney to the main Esplanade. Grand Californian guests have a dedicated entrance into Disney California Adventure plus a Downtown Disney walking path to Disneyland Park. Pixar Place Hotel guests walk through the resort to the main Esplanade.

Resort hotel guests do not need to use the parking structures or Toy Story Lot for their entire stay. Park your car at the hotel when you arrive and leave it there until you check out.

Off-Property and Alternative Parking

For guests who want to avoid Disneyland’s parking costs entirely, several off-property options exist.

Anaheim Convention Center parking at 800 West Katella Avenue offers daily parking rates that vary by event schedule. When no convention is happening, rates are typically lower than Disneyland’s $40. The walk from the convention center to the Disneyland main entrance is approximately 10-15 minutes along Harbor Boulevard.

Off-site lot operators like SpotHero and various private lots along Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard offer daily parking rates that can be significantly cheaper than Disneyland’s rates, sometimes as low as $14-$20 per day. Some include shuttle service to the parks. Quality varies significantly by operator. Read reviews before committing.

Hotel parking with shuttle service: Some Disneyland-area hotels allow non-guests to use their parking and shuttle service for a fee. The Anaheim Marriott, Hilton Anaheim, and several Good Neighbor properties have offered this in the past with rates and policies varying by property.

Street parking on residential streets near Disneyland is heavily restricted. Most surrounding neighborhoods have permit-only parking. Parking enforcement is aggressive in this area. Do not attempt to street park in residential Anaheim near Disneyland.

For most guests, the math on off-property parking does not work out favorably when you factor in walking time, shuttle wait times, and the security of leaving your car in a less monitored lot. Disneyland’s structures are well-lit, well-patrolled, and have direct tram access. The convenience usually justifies the cost.
