What Can You Bring Into Disneyland

Updated April 2026 — Reflects all current Disneyland security rules and newly enforced policies.

Before you pack your bag for Disneyland, take five minutes to read this. Security enforcement has tightened significantly in 2026, and guests are being turned away at the gates for items they assumed were fine — from oversized strollers to Stanley cups on certain rides. This complete guide covers everything you can and cannot bring into Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, so you arrive prepared and walk through security without a hitch.

Bag Size Rules at Disneyland 2026

Your bag must not exceed 24 inches long x 15 inches wide x 18 inches high (61cm x 38cm x 46cm). This applies to backpacks, purses, diaper bags, coolers, and any other bag or container you bring.

Oversized bags — including rolling suitcases, large hard-sided coolers, and bags that exceed these dimensions — will be turned away at security. You’ll either need to return the bag to your car or store it in a locker outside the park entrance.

All bags go through a security checkpoint before entering the park. Have your bag open and organized before you reach the front of the security line to speed up the process. You’ll be asked to unzip all compartments.

What You CAN Bring Into Disneyland

Food and Snacks

Yes — you can bring your own food into Disneyland. Disney allows guests to bring outside food for personal consumption, which is one of the best ways to manage costs during a park day, especially for large families.

Allowed food items include:

  • Snacks, sandwiches, fruit, and any solid food items
  • Small baby food jars (glass is allowed in this exception)
  • Food for guests with dietary restrictions or medical needs
  • Uncrustables, granola bars, crackers, chips — anything packaged and sealed

Food restrictions to know: Large coolers are not permitted. Full picnic setups are not allowed. Any food brought in must be for personal consumption — you cannot sell or distribute food inside the park.

Water Bottles and Drinks

Personal water bottles are not only allowed but encouraged. Disneyland has water refill stations throughout both parks and free cups of water are available at any quick service restaurant upon request — a great way to stay hydrated without buying bottled water.

Allowed beverages:

  • Sealed plastic water bottles and reusable water bottles
  • Sealed plastic bottles of soda or juice
  • Coffee and other hot beverages in sealed containers
  • Juice boxes and pouches for children

Not allowed: Canned beverages, glass bottles or jars (except small baby food jars), alcoholic beverages from outside the park, and loose ice — ice must be in sealed bags, not loose in a cooler.

Strollers

Strollers are welcome at Disneyland provided they meet the size requirements. Maximum stroller dimensions are 31 inches wide x 52 inches long. Stroller wagons of any kind are completely banned. See our complete Disneyland stroller guide for more detail on what’s allowed and what gets turned away.

Cameras and Photography Equipment

Personal cameras are welcome. Tripods are permitted provided they fit inside a standard backpack when retracted and do not extend beyond 6 feet (182cm) when open. Compact tripods are generally fine — large professional-grade tripods are not.

Wheelchairs and Mobility Devices

Wheelchairs, Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs), and other mobility devices are welcome. Wheeled mobility devices must have at least 3 wheels and must be able to maintain stability when stopped and unpowered. Single-wheeled or self-balancing devices are not permitted.

Medications and Medical Supplies

Prescription medications and necessary medical supplies are allowed. Notify security at the checkpoint if you’re carrying medical items that require special handling. Disney makes accommodations for guests with medical needs — don’t hesitate to explain your situation to Cast Members at the gate.

Small Personal Items

The following personal items are allowed with no restrictions:

  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Portable phone chargers and battery packs
  • Compact umbrellas and rain ponchos
  • Blankets and jackets
  • Autograph books and pens
  • Small fans and personal misters
  • Earplugs and noise-canceling headphones

What You CANNOT Bring Into Disneyland

The following items are strictly prohibited at all Disneyland Resort theme parks as outlined in the official Disneyland Park Rules.

Weapons and Dangerous Items

  • Firearms, ammunition, and real weapons of any kind
  • Knives and bladed weapons
  • Realistic-looking prop weapons — even decorative or costume pieces that resemble real firearms are now being stopped at security in 2026
  • Items that could be used as weapons at Disney’s discretion

Alcohol

  • Alcoholic beverages from outside the park are not permitted inside Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure
  • Exception: Wine bottles may be brought into the Downtown Disney District only, to be consumed at select table service restaurants — corkage fees apply

Glass Containers

  • Glass bottles, jars, and containers are banned
  • Exception: Small glass containers like baby food jars are permitted
  • Glass is permitted at Disneyland Resort hotels but not inside the theme parks

Selfie Sticks and Extension Poles

  • Selfie sticks and all hand-held camera extension poles are completely banned — no exceptions
  • Flags and banners are also not permitted in any theme park

Recreational Devices

  • Drones and remote-control toys
  • Skateboards, scooters, inline skates, and bicycles
  • Shoes with built-in wheels
  • Hoverboards and self-balancing devices

Noise Makers

  • Horns, whistles, large megaphones, and artificial noise makers

Wagons and Oversized Strollers

  • Wagons of any kind — including stroller wagons marketed as “push-friendly”
  • Strollers wider than 31 inches or longer than 52 inches
  • Any trailer-like object pushed or pulled by a stroller, ECV, wheelchair, or person

Smoking and Substances

  • Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are only permitted in designated outdoor smoking areas — not inside theme parks, the Esplanade, or Downtown Disney
  • Marijuana is banned at Disneyland Resort regardless of California state law
  • All other illegal substances are prohibited

Human Remains

This may seem unusual to mention, but it is specifically listed in Disney’s park rules because it has been a recurring issue — primarily at the Haunted Mansion. Spreading or depositing cremated remains anywhere at Disneyland Resort is strictly prohibited and will result in removal from the park.

New in 2026: Items Now Being More Strictly Enforced on Rides

Beyond what’s allowed through the front gate, Disneyland has tightened enforcement of loose item rules on specific attractions in 2026.

No Loose Phones on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Signage in the queue at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway now clearly advises guests to stow all loose articles before the vehicle departs. Cast Members will not dispatch the vehicle until all phones and loose items are properly stored in bags or pockets.

Stanley Cups and Large Water Bottles on Rides

At Incredicoaster and several other attractions, large metal water bottles including Stanley cups must be stowed inside a bag before boarding. If your water bottle is too large to fit in your bag, you’ll be directed to leave it on a small table near the ride entrance and collect it after. This rule is being enforced more strictly than in previous years following incidents involving loose items becoming projectiles.

Food and Drink Tips to Save Money at Disneyland

Since outside food is allowed, here’s how to use this policy strategically to keep costs manageable:

  • Bring a proper lunch. Sandwiches, wraps, fruit, and portable snacks travel well in a backpack and can save a family of four $50-80 on a single meal.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle. Free water is available at every quick service restaurant. Refill throughout the day and skip the $5-6 bottled water entirely.
  • Pack snacks for the afternoon slump. Granola bars, trail mix, and fruit keep energy up between meals without the $10 churro tax.
  • Use an insulated bag for cold items. Ice packs inside a soft-sided cooler pouch work well — just make sure ice is in sealed bags, not loose.
  • Dietary restrictions are accommodated. If you have specific medical dietary needs, mention this at the security checkpoint. Disney is accommodating for guests with genuine dietary requirements.
