dole whip at disneyland

Updated April 2026. A complete guide to Dole Whip at Disneyland Resort — every location in both parks and at the hotels, current flavors and prices, what a Dole Whip float is, and the copycat recipe to make at home.

The Dole Whip is one of the most iconic snacks in theme park history. A frozen pineapple soft serve that is dairy-free, fat-free, and gluten-free, it has been served at Disneyland since 1986 and has built a following that borders on devoted. On a hot Anaheim afternoon, it is genuinely one of the best things you can eat in either park.

Here is everything you need to know — where to find it, what flavors exist, and what is actually worth ordering.

What Is a Dole Whip?

A Dole Whip is a soft serve frozen dessert made from a dry powder mix produced by Dole Food Company. The mix is blended with water rather than dairy, which makes it naturally dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. The original and most popular flavor is pineapple, though several other fruit flavors are now available at various locations.

One fun fact worth knowing: there is no actual pineapple in a classic Dole Whip. It is made from the powder mix, which contains pineapple flavoring but not fresh fruit. That does not affect the taste — it still delivers a bright, tropical, intensely pineapple-forward flavor — but it is useful to know if you are buying it for dietary reasons.

The Dole Whip first appeared at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in 1984, then came to Disneyland in 1986. Today it is one of the best-selling snacks at both parks and has become a cultural shorthand for Disney park food in general.

Where to Get Dole Whip at Disneyland Park

Tiki Juice Bar — The Classic Spot

Location: Adventureland, just outside the entrance to Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Mobile order: Yes, available through the Disneyland app

This is the original Dole Whip spot at Disneyland and the one most guests picture when they think of the experience. A small outdoor kiosk surrounded by tiki torches just outside the Enchanted Tiki Room — it has been serving Dole Whip since 1986. The menu here is focused and simple: classic pineapple Dole Whip in a cup or cone, and the Dole Whip Float.

Mobile order is available here, which is genuinely useful on busy days. Order ahead and walk up to pick it up rather than waiting in line.

What to order: The Dole Whip Float — pineapple soft serve swirled into pineapple juice — is the most popular option and for good reason. The juice at the bottom gets cold as you eat down through the soft serve, giving you two distinct textures and temperatures as you go.

The Tropical Hideaway — Best Flavor Variety

Location: Adventureland, near the Jungle Cruise dock

The Tropical Hideaway is the best place in Disneyland Park for Dole Whip if you want more than just classic pineapple. The menu here includes swirl options combining multiple flavors, specialty items, and seasonal creations that rotate with park celebrations. Jungle Cruise boats drift past while you eat, making it one of the more atmospheric snack spots in either park.

Current menu highlights:

  • Dole Whip Swirl Float — pineapple juice topped with a swirl of two flavors including strawberry, pineapple, or mango
  • Dole Whip Float — pineapple juice topped with classic pineapple Dole Whip
  • Chile-Mango Whip — pineapple and mango swirl Dole Whip with chamoy, mango, and chile-lime seasoning ($8.49)
  • Blood Orange Agua Float — blood orange agua fresca with strawberry Dole Whip ($9.29)
  • Pineapple Upside Down Sundae — pineapple Dole Whip with caramel drizzle and pineapple upside-down cake, topped with a maraschino cherry (70th Anniversary celebration item)

The Tropical Hideaway is the right spot if you want something more creative than the classic. The Chile-Mango Whip in particular is a genuine standout — sweet, fruity, and with a slow-building heat from the chile-lime seasoning.

Tiki Juice Bar vs Tropical Hideaway — Which to Choose

If you want the classic pineapple Dole Whip or float and want it fast: Tiki Juice Bar with mobile order. If you want to explore flavors, try a specialty item, or want to sit and enjoy the atmosphere: Tropical Hideaway. Both are in Adventureland within a short walk of each other.

Where to Get Dole Whip at Disney California Adventure

DCA has Dole Whip available at locations in Pixar Pier. The offering here tends to be non-dairy fruit soft serve in different flavor combinations, often rotating seasonally. The flavors and specific items vary — check the Disneyland app on the day of your visit for the current Pixar Pier soft serve options. This location is convenient if you are spending the day in DCA and do not want to walk over to Adventureland in Disneyland Park.

Where to Get Dole Whip Without a Park Ticket

There are two places to get Dole Whip at Disneyland Resort without needing a park ticket:

Tangaroa Terrace — Disneyland Hotel
Located at the Disneyland Hotel pool area, Tangaroa Terrace is a walk-up quick service spot that serves pineapple Dole Whip and floats. No park ticket required. This is a great option if you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, doing a rest day, or spending time in Downtown Disney and want Dole Whip without heading into the parks. Mobile order is not available for Dole Whip at this location.

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar — Disneyland Hotel
The famous themed bar at the Disneyland Hotel also serves Dole Whip, including versions with a splash of rum for guests 21 and older. The alcoholic Dole Whip float with rum is a popular order here in the evenings. Trader Sam’s often has a wait for indoor seating — outdoor seating is easier to access without a long wait.

Tips for Getting Dole Whip at Disneyland

Use mobile order at Tiki Juice Bar. It is one of the few snack locations at Disneyland with mobile order enabled and it saves meaningful time on busy days, especially in the afternoon when the line can stretch.

Best times to visit: Before 11am or after 7pm. Mid-afternoon on warm days produces the longest lines at all Dole Whip locations. If you are visiting on a hot summer day, plan your Dole Whip stop for morning or evening.

Try the float at least once. The Dole Whip on its own is excellent. The float — pineapple soft serve swirled into cold pineapple juice — is on another level. The juice gets progressively colder and sweeter as you drink it down through the soft serve. First-time visitors should start with the float.

The Chile-Mango Whip is worth trying. It is a more adventurous order than the classic but the combination of sweet mango, tropical pineapple, chamoy, and chile-lime heat is genuinely excellent and unlike anything else in either park.

Disneyland Dole Whip Copycat Recipe

You cannot buy the actual Dole Whip mix in small quantities for home use — it is a commercial product sold in bulk. But you can make a very close approximation at home using frozen pineapple and a few simple ingredients. The texture will be slightly different from the soft serve machine version but the flavor is remarkably accurate.

Ingredients (serves 4):

  • 4 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Optional: 1/4 cup full-fat coconut milk for a creamier texture

Instructions:

Place frozen pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, sugar, and lemon juice in a blender or food processor. If using coconut milk, add it now. Blend on high until completely smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. The mixture should be thick and creamy — similar to soft serve consistency. If it is too thick, add a tablespoon of pineapple juice at a time. If it is too thin, add more frozen pineapple.

For the full Dole Whip experience, transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe it into cups in a swirling motion. Serve immediately for soft serve consistency, or freeze for 30 minutes for a slightly firmer texture.

For the float: Pour cold pineapple juice into a tall cup, leaving room at the top. Pipe or spoon the Dole Whip mixture on top. Serve with a straw and a long spoon.

Tips: The lemon juice is important — it brightens the pineapple flavor and cuts through the sweetness in the same way the commercial mix does. Do not skip it. The coconut milk version is richer and closer to the park texture. The version without coconut milk is slightly icier but works well as a float since it holds together in the juice rather than melting as quickly.
