Real photo of the Indiana Jones Adventure temple exterior at Disneyland, stone facade and Temple of the Forbidden Eye doorway in Adventureland

Last Updated on August 28, 2026

Disneyland’s September 2026 calendar just got a lot more specific. Indiana Jones Adventure goes dark on September 8, Mad Tea Party follows on September 14, and a handful of Rivers of America attractions take shorter hits the same month.

This is not a Halloween Time story. It is a refurbishment roundup pulled from today’s Google News cluster, then checked against the calendars Disney Tourist Blog, Undercover Tourist, and Theme Park IQ are reading off Disneyland.com.

Disney has not published a press release. The dates live on the official calendar, which still only runs through October 3, 2026. If a ride has no hours after a start date, treat the reopen as unknown, not “a few days.”

Confirm everything on Disneyland.com the week you travel. Disneyland moves these windows.

The two closures that actually change a trip

Indiana Jones Adventure is the one I would plan around. Last operating day is Monday, September 7, 2026. The calendar shows it closed starting Tuesday, September 8, with no return date posted.

Disney Tourist Blog notes that Indy has no hours through October 3, which is as far as the public calendar currently goes. That is a longer-looking downtime than the four-day riverboat hit, even if Disney later posts a September return.

Indy gets this treatment most years. Recent closures include December 1 to 3, 2025, March 17 to April 24, 2025, and September 9 to 13, 2024. Some of those were a long weekend. March 2025 was not.

Until Disney posts a reopen, do not sell a mid-September Adventureland day as an Indy day. Ride it on or before September 7, or skip the FOMO.

Mad Tea Party is the other real loss, especially with little kids. It drops off the calendar on Monday, September 14, 2026, also with no reopen posted.

That is a Fantasyland spinner, not a E-Ticket. Families still have the rest of Fantasyland and Alice in Wonderland next door. I would not cancel a trip over teacups. I would also not promise them to a five-year-old for a mid-September visit.

Both of those TBD reopens are why this roundup showed up in Google News today. AllEars and the East Bay Times clustered the same calendar dump. The East Bay Times wrapped it in Halloween language. The actual news is September maintenance, not a new Halloween Time overlay.

The short river hits

Mark Twain Riverboat is listed closed September 8 through 11, 2026. That is four days, then it should be back.

Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island is the messier line. Undercover Tourist and That Disney Fam list September 14 through 16. Disney Tourist Blog still has it as starting September 14 with reopen TBD. I am treating 14 to 16 as the working window and the TBD as a reminder to refresh Disneyland.com.

Sailing Ship Columbia is cleaner: closed September 21 through 24, 2026, back after that four-day block on the calendars that give an end date.

Fan writeups also said Fantasmic would be dark on the Mark Twain nights. I have not seen Disney put that in a press note. If your September 8 to 11 night is built around Fantasmic, check the entertainment calendar, not a roundup.

What is coming back, not going away

Main Street Cinema and Silly Symphony Swings were both listed to reopen August 28, 2026, which is today. If you are in the parks this weekend, those two should be back on the board unless Disney slipped the date overnight.

Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition has been down since early July. The calendars put it back on September 11, 2026. That is the day after Mark Twain’s last closed day on the four-day window.

Minnie and Friends Breakfast in the Park at Plaza Inn is still out, with a late September return and no exact date. The restaurant itself has been staying open for regular service. See our Plaza Inn dining guide and character dining roundup if that meal was on your list.

The walkway between Cars Land and Avengers Campus is still closed for the Avengers expansion. That is a routing problem, not a September refurb. We already covered the reopen signal in When Does the Cars Land to Avengers Campus Walkway Reopen.

How I’d plan a September trip around this

If Indiana Jones is non-negotiable, go on or before September 7. After that, assume it is a construction wall until Disney publishes hours again.

If you are bringing kids who only care about teacups, the same logic applies after September 13. Everyone else can live without Mad Tea Party for a week or a month.

September 8 through 11 is the busiest overlap: Indy is already down and the Mark Twain is out. September 14 through 16 stacks Mad Tea Party with Tom Sawyer Island. September 21 through 24 is mostly the Columbia.

None of that is a reason to avoid the resort. It is a reason to stop building an itinerary off last year’s muscle memory. Use our full 2026 refurbishment schedule, the crowd calendar, and best time to visit in 2026 together, then check Disneyland.com the morning you leave the hotel.

Lightning Lane math changes when Indy is closed. If you usually buy it for Adventureland, reread whether Lightning Lane is worth it for a September day that no longer includes that ride.

Haunted Mansion Holiday is already running as part of Halloween Time 2026. That overlay is not a September closure. Do not mix the two on your itinerary spreadsheet.

A one-day hop still works if you are honest about what is missing. Our one-day Park Hopper and best day of the week notes are still the right pages for timing, not for which E-Ticket is actually open.

Magic Key holders should still check blockouts before they celebrate a quieter September weekday. Start with Magic Key blockout dates.

What this is not

It is not Disney announcing a new ride. It is maintenance landing on the public calendar, which is why it is in the news feed today.

It is not proof Indy will be down into October. The calendar simply does not go further than October 3 yet. TBD means TBD.

It is also not a Halloween Time article. If you came here from a headline about eight attractions closing for Halloween, you were reading a seasonal wrap. The visitor-useful list is the September refurb stack above.

You still need a park reservation and a valid ticket for the same park on the same date. Closures do not change that, and they do not earn you a refund.

People Also Ask

When does Indiana Jones Adventure close at Disneyland in 2026?

The calendars show it closed starting September 8, 2026, so September 7 is the last listed operating day. Disney has not posted a reopen date.

Is Mad Tea Party closing in September 2026?

Yes. Mad Tea Party drops off the Disneyland calendar on September 14, 2026, with no return date posted yet. Alice in Wonderland next door is the usual backup.

Will Fantasmic run when the Mark Twain is closed?

Fan calendars flagged September 8 through 11 as dark nights because the riverboat is down. Treat that as unconfirmed until the Disneyland entertainment calendar says so for your date.

What else is closed at Disneyland in September 2026?

Short hits: Mark Twain September 8 to 11, Pirate’s Lair around September 14 to 16, Columbia September 21 to 24. Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition is listed to return September 11. Confirm live hours on Disneyland.com.
