Quick answer: Pick Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa if you want the most convenient location: its own entrance into Disney California Adventure, plus Tenaya Stone Spa. Pick the Disneyland Hotel if your kids want the monorail waterslides, classic Disneyland theming and the Villas’ kitchen options. What all three hotels get

Every Disneyland Resort hotel stay includes the same core benefits. The biggest is one complimentary Lightning Lane Multi Pass entry per registered guest (ages 3 and up), used once at one eligible attraction on one day of the stay. Lightning Lane Single Pass rides are not eligible. Details are in our Disneyland hotel perks guide.

Guests at any of the three hotels can also use the Grand Californian’s entrance into California Adventure, as long as they have valid park admission and a park reservation for that park and date. Link your tickets, park reservations and hotel reservation in the Disneyland app so cast members can verify them.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass beyond the free entry costs from $35 in advance and $38+ on the day.

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

The Grand Californian’s selling point is geography. It sits inside California Adventure’s footprint with its own entrance, and Downtown Disney and Disneyland park are a short walk away. The Craftsman-style lobby, Storytellers Cafe character breakfast and Tenaya Stone Spa make it the most “resort” of the three. Disney notes some areas are under refurbishment; check its page before booking. Full review: Grand Californian hotel review; spa details: Tenaya Stone Spa.

  • Pools: Redwood Pool, Fountain Pool and Mariposa Pool with hot tub and cabanas.
  • Dining: Napa Rose, the hotel’s signature restaurant, is open again and serving dinner; Storytellers Cafe (character breakfast); Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures in the Trillium Room (extra).
  • Club level: The Veranda lounge, with breakfast, afternoon tea, an evening wine and cheese reception and fireworks viewing. Disney says a second club lounge is planned.
  • Downsides: usually the most expensive of the three.

Disneyland Hotel

The original Disneyland hotel has three towers themed to the park’s original lands (Adventure, Fantasy and Frontier) plus the Villas at Disneyland Hotel in the Discovery tower. It’s a short walk through Downtown Disney to both park entrances. See our Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place reviews.

  • Pools: two monorail waterslides, the E-Ticket and D-Ticket pools, and the Villas’ palette-shaped pool with a Steamboat Willie splash pad.
  • Rooms: classic-Disneyland theming; Villas offer Duo Studios, Deluxe Studios with kitchenettes and 1–3 bedroom villas with full kitchens and washer/dryer.
  • Club level: High Key Club, with fireworks viewing on select nights.
  • Downsides: longer walk to the parks than the Grand Californian.

Pixar Place Hotel

Pixar Place celebrates the art and stories of Pixar Animation Studios, from the lobby to the rooftop pool deck. Select rooms look over California Adventure, and guests walk to the parks or use the Grand Californian’s DCA entrance. On select nights you can watch Disneyland’s fireworks from the third-floor pool deck with the soundtrack piped in.

  • Pool: the Finding Nemo-themed third-floor deck has the Pixel Pool, the 186-foot Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, Nemo’s Cove splash pad and a whirlpool.
  • Club level: Creators Club lounge.
  • Parking: Disney lists self-parking only.
  • Downsides: fewer on-site restaurants and less atmosphere than the other two.
